Luke Reynolds went off, and the tight ends overall had a very productive day, 16 catches for 190 yards I believe. Javion Hilson is incredibly explosive off the edge, and honestly the overall talent has increased so much, I'm really excited about the James Franklin era.

Scoreless in the 2nd.

Meanwhile, Georgia and Arkansas finished the 8th inning at 15-11....and by the end of the 9th it was 26-14 Georgia. Teams combined for 11 homeruns

Any kind of recap (other than the sky diver) from anyone that saw the game? I just went over the stats and the drive summaries and its really hard for me to take away much other than our kicking game should be fine.

You're not wrong, but...

  • I think most fans want a better on the field product first and foremost. And I think that given the unpredictable future of sport and the change landscape, focusing on the field/talent acquisition is most important
  • Related to above... to pay for talent (coaching, players, etc) leadership is forced to pursue whale donors. Those whales ain't waiting in line for ice cream

I just don't think any of what you experienced is due to the public nature of the enterprise. I think it's due to limited funds and other priorities.

Long post, but as someone who's lived in Blacksburg since graduating in the early 2000s, been to all sorts of games, and loves VT Athletics, the TL:DR version is that anyone associated with the athletics department needs to be on a PiP and fired if they cannot be better.

Franklin may own on field production, but every customer experience aspects between football, basketball or major sports is beyond bad. The experiences at basketball games, concessions, etc are all so bad even UVa fans made fun of us

Today, gates were closed, there was zero consideration for the crowd, kids, etc. The line for ice cream was over an hour long.

I can't say where where to start, but a culture that holds every leadership employee accountable for the customer experience and fan happiness, regardless of on field or on court performance would be a hell of a start.

I cannot justify a penny going to a for-profit business that continues to put a product out that is this bad. Not a reflect on on field results at all, just the product that we are all being sold.

In a private company without the safety of a state institution, the purge would be swift.

So that's how we pay for the new video board!

That must've been like 20 minutes up there. He's gonna have to get checked out at the hospital for blood clots I'm guessing unless he had a strap or something on the screen to step on/in and prevent circulation cut off from the harness. I've never skydived, but if it's like a fall protection harness the rule of thumb is to rescue in 10 minutes to prevent damage.

Pulled him down a few minutes ago. Maybe a good omen for the season?

They a great jokes that fit unto the catagory

Sitting in the South Endzone right behind the goal posts... next to last row Seat 16 behind the south endzone goalposts if any TKPers want to join and listen to me yammer

I don't listen to podcasts but I do use libby to download audio books and listed to them. Ive transitioned to books about trauma with the body keeps score and cptsd, but have listed to lots of different stuff

edit, I don't know what I typed out what auto corrected but it was wrong, so I fixed

nope, shes not a keeper with put the groans and telling me it was bad, it had higher standards for my family

And she has to listen to your jokes all the way through and then smile and chuckle politely, too.

I listen more in season, but they do so many pods a week, which is great for their subscribers, that I find myself marking a bunch played without listening. It can become redundant when you're ingesting a lot of CFB during the season.

Blowback is a favorite of mine. It's given me some great books to read as they cite everything on their website. The bonus episodes often feature great interviews as well.
