If that is the case I predict we will either be a bit disappointed (most likely) or possibly ecstatic (if for some reason we swing for the fences).

Yea, I think so. Or if the light bulb switches on, maybe he becomes the starter. I don't think Pry and Quinn are in love with Kaleb Spencer at the spot. Gabe Williams (when he gets physically and mentally healthy) would also compete for playing time. I think Williams could also slide over to WILL.

Sorensen for HC with Pry moved to GM and press guy. I like it.

But your point about him playing in the scheme is fair. I'll counter that playing in it and coaching it are two different things (look no further than Chris Marve). But, he is a great football mind and I don't doubt he would be able to get familiarized with the gap fill and spill scheme in a short amount of time. But, he would lack the experiences in calling plays for the scheme and making adjustments. Maybe with Bud in his JKill role would be able to smooth out that process.

I think it would be a gamble, but maybe that's what Pry needs to do to get this team to the next level.

yeah no disrespect to him, but the staff decided he was a much better fit at LB and we've all seen how that's worked out. So my guess it that WR did not look good at all

I know switching to a 3-4 isn't really possible with our personnel, but if Pry was comfortable with it how would our personnel match up to a Tampa 2 or a primarily nickel defense? With how we've flipped the DB room it has made me wonder if we're going to utilize more nickel coverages.

I think he will have NFL DC offers, and even if that doesn't happen I'd be surprised if he drops all the way to position coach at a struggling college football program.

Yes, let's hope we were more encouraged with his Pitt film vs. hoping we can turn him around to where he was from HS tape. I -hope- we wouldn't take him if we didn't like his pitt stuff, but we are taking lower division guys.

NFL coordinators are a different ball game. Much more plug and play than in college. Sorensen will find a spot and the 49ers will find a new guy- relatively easily. If he doesn't work out, you fire him- you don't have to worry about "recruiting" and players have contracts- so they can't enter the free agent portal unless their contract is up.

We're on the same page.

I do think we've seen an improvement in high school recruiting, even if a marginal one. The average recruit rating is up. Not where it needs to be, but up. And, the staff seems to have an understanding of what it takes to build a balanced roster, which includes taking guys at natural positions.

Beamer and Fu were both guilty of signing highly rated athletes and then trying to convert 5 running backs to other positions. Sometimes it works, but not very often. For every Justin Hamilton, there are 5 Joel Caleb's.

The transfers this year have included some really talented guys with P4 experience, so that's an uptick as well. Let's keep it going.

I dont disagree that Kenny is a big part of this, just that when things are going well for a coach, location isn't an issue, no one on ASU is complaining about weather. No one is questioning their life choice as they walk to class in a foot of snow.

agree with all of that but will note he did PLAY in Bud's scheme. it has been awhile but it's not like he doesn't know how to do it. I'd take him to coach safeties and/or special teams tomorrow...maybe even HC down the road
