They're good, but small enough to question if they're worth having. Which is why I only get them late night after drinking.

Comes from a well connected family in collegiate athletics but his personal resume doesn't scream top candidate (not necessarily bad either). Did well with Dusty May, but you could make a case that was a fluke because none of his other hires have panned out. Fundraising is hard to parse. It is FAU after all, but it appears he did well for what it was. Whether that can translate, who knows. Not really enough experience anywhere else to feel comfortable one way or the other if it will. It's always hard to tell how these types of hires will go because so much info isn't public but this is also one where if it doesn't work out, everyone will easily point back and go "why would you ever hire a guy like this?".

If you want to spin it positive though, he wouldn't be here if he didn't align with Franklin's vision for the football program. And he has (theoretically) connections given his background that could be useful when it comes to stuff like realignment, etc.

I'm not mad at this. Young blood to fix a broken product and a vision I'm sure Franklin was a big part of behind the scenes.

I would love it to be in Bristol again like once a decade with several home and homes between.

Best burgers around the area for me are at Jack Brown's. Killer little dive, great beer and burgers!
Yes, its Roanoke.!

With the way college sports is headed, specifically the top level, I'm not sure this applies as much as in the past. Imo, there's going to be quite a bit of difference running a department at where we want to be vs running a department at Coastal Carolina, FAU, any mid-major program you can name. Pro level experience and/or experience at a top level school (doesn't have to be AD, could be deputy, etc) could be just as important if not more than showing you can run a department at any D1 school. In today's world, I think I would trust a years long deputy AD from Texas or Notre Dame with no head AD experience over a candidate that was an AD at a modest mid-major for a few years for example. Other factors involved sure, I'm just saying its no longer that simple any more

I had to go to Ventura CA last week for work. While I couldn't fish, I decided to walk out on Ventura Pier to see what people were catching from a very different ecosystem than I am accustomed to. I saw a guitarfish and two yellow pacific croaker get caught.

Weather permitting, I am camping with friends and chasing trout up at John's Creek in Craig County this weekend, and I am scouting for holes in the North Fork of the Holston close to home to try some evening topwater microfishing for redeyes, redbreast sunfish, and the occasional smallmouth.

I didn't know they had burgers, always got pizza or hoagies or pasta. I just looked online and their website is password protected which is odd, but yelp had pictures of menues with 1 burger one the menu, 1/2 pound on brioche with lettuce tomato and onion with choice of cheese. It's kind of buried on the menu and not something I would have gotten from them just because they had so many really good options. It could be a great burger but at 1/2 lbs its way to big for me.

Blacksburg was kind of odd when I was there as most restaurants didnt compete, burgers was Mike's, pizza at PKs, Greek at the cellar, veggie at gillies, sharky's had wings night, alligator at boudreauxs. HoHouse for pool (or sharkeys), darts at champs or rivermill. Tots to twst your liver. I guess Mexican had the biggest competition. Im sure there is more than I was am remembering but I just dont remember argue which place is better, they all had their purposes

Trip of a lifetime. When I was in Australia I had a GT swim out and chase a schoolie mack that I was reeling in.

Congrats!

Use sand fleas. Have the kids dig them up on the beach. Use bloodworm fishbites when you don't have any. Both are way better than frozen baits.

TBH, I haven't liked any of the names we were looking at but at least White comes from a family steeped in college athletics. His brother is the AD for the Vols, his dad use to be the AD at Notre Dame and Duke back in the day, and his brother coaches UGA's basketball team.

The most important thing imo is does he understand fundraising and how essentially college sports are now pro sports. Hopefully he does. If not, we're going to be stuck with more of the same. But on the positive side, I think Coach Franklin does understand that and White wouldn't be hired if Franklin wasn't on board.

They would have been eliminated under the previous tie-breaker rules as well

.

False. Under previous rules, if they beat the US 12-0 and either Paraguay or Australia lose they would be even on points with the loser of the Paraguay Australia game and would jump ahead of them on gd (having scored 12). That would place them in 3rd with a chance to advance.

That's kind of my point. If the tie break rules hadn't changed they'd still have something to play for (third). But with h2h they don't have anything to play for. Australia and Paraguay could draw, which would eliminate Tukiye regardless of their result. But that puts Australia in jeopardy because they finish third and aren't guaranteed to advance. So Australia may want to play for the win. Paraguay would be happy to draw because they'll stay ahead on gd. Does Australia push and try to win, exposing themselves to counterattack or do they play for the draw and hope for the best?

Also, I think you're completely missing my point. I know that Türkiye is effectively eliminated. Many of the weaker teams are. My complaint isn't that weak teams aren't getting into the knockouts. My complaint is that half of the 3rd group stage matches are meaningless. It's better for the fans when teams still have stakes in the games. Mexico should be worried that SK could jump them. I want the teams that have already won their groups to still play their best soccer. We only get this once every 4 years. I don't want to see friendlies.

Can't say I ever had a burger at the cellar. Mostly just went there and got pizza. Sharkeys burgers were fine to pair with the long islands during happy hour that we were really there for. Mikes (RIP) was always where we'd go for burgers. I miss that place..

Until we get the full release from the conference with everyone's entire season schedule, I don't trust any dates on future schedules. (Except for maybe the neutral site ones.)
