We had a lot of defensive struggles last year, and that alone was probably enough for Bud to feel the heat (which he puts on himself as much as anything else).

# | After Near Miss Against ECU, Isaiah Ford Hoping For Another Chance to Show Off His Passing Skills I think what you (and many others on the boards) are hinting at is that he's happier with the new offense and balance that the team has. I would agree; I think that's a big part of it.
I also think a lot of it has to do with the fact that his job isn't up in the air and he's not worried about his head coach retiring like he probably was last year. Seems natural to me to be more relaxed with the increased level of consistency in his non-coaching life.
You can get $20 tickets for the Duke game right off the Duke Athletics Website if you use the passcode TEACHER the seats are in section 113 I bought 5 last night. Just go under students and promotions section when searching for seats and enter the passcode and pick however many you need
Okay, I'll approach this from a different perspective. The small town feel is in danger see example 1) Mike's Grill. President Sands, love him by the way, wants to grow the university at an alarming rate. He wants between 500 to 1000 additional students per year. This was the plan when I worked in admissions at Tech and has continued from my recent discussion with colleagues.
Tech is pushing the #1 Student Life Quality and alumni rankings. Those are going to take dips when there is more petty complaints. What might these petty complaints be? Lack of parking. This has been covered ad nauseam. Lack of on campus housing. You are already seeing freshmen housing squeezed. Students are being placed in overflow housing (hotels usually) until people drop out or are kicked out. This creates bad feelings that set the tone for four years. Lack of classes. If you have seen how quickly seats go, it's terrifying. VT's four year graduation rate will likely dip even further than it has from just the engineering boom alone.
I can think of 101 other things but I will leave it at, with my experience in higher education administration, VT's boom will last another 5 years and then tone and direction will create some real dissonance with the alumni.

# | Pirates Plundered, Analyzing Virginia Tech's 54-17 Win Over East Carolina I watched the Tim Settle punt block about a dozen times. I grinned each time. The strength he has to just bowl through the line, while retaining control of himself and coordination to get a hand up and block the kick was a thing of beauty.
The analysis of the offense...wow. I love the nuance and design these coaches have put in place. Can't wait to see how things continue to come together for this team. I am very excited.
Anybody remember what high school Ricky Walker went to?
Definitely don't have a dog in the fight, but after living in South Korea high rises are the answer to everything. Nearly every city here is nothing but high rise apartment after high rise apartment. They had to find a way to fit 51 million people in a tiny (compared to Murica) space and aside from weekends and holidays, it works beautifully here.
Fried food and mustard. Honestly I don't get it either but I love em, but only like twice a year because my gallbladder can only take so much.

First time I can remember a defense selling out to stop a bread and butter play and the offensive staff responding with a shrug and saying, "Okay, we'll just make you think we're running it all the time without actually running it." This staff just gets it.

The wideout depth is definitely off to a better start than last year, Bud has got this defense humming, special teams got some work in with Ludwig also improving every game. There were obiously some points left out on the field but that's still with scoring 49 and 54 the past 2 games.
