Right, typically the tackle will move over next to the RT and the TE take his place because if you were to align as you describe, I believe the LT would have to declare himself an eligible receiver due to his number being ineligible (and the TE next to the RT would be ineligible). I've just come to understand an unbalanced line as not having the typical 3 players on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the center. Like in the image you posted above, there are two on the line on the left of the center and four to the right. You could pull the guard over to the right too and make a 5 man blocking advantage with the TE still being eligible. Lots of confusing variables, but as long as there are 7 on the line, the two on both ends are eligible receivers (linemen would have to change jerseys or declare themselves eligible before the play if they are on the end).

Since this piece is mostly lauding the design of the play, I think it's right to give the praise to Fuente. However you bring up a good point that Coach Corn has done an exceptional job at play calling through three games.

Even more so if you play Stroman and Newsome on that side again.

I disagree with French on this one as well. Unbalanced has to do with whether or not the end guy is "covered" and if there are more on one side.

We could run our typical twins set, but have our "Y" to the same side as the twins on the LOS, covered by the "X" making the line-unbalanced. T G C G T Y.

If you flip the T and the TE, it's what I'm describing. Either way the one on left side of LOS is eligible which is why teams will typically move their Tackle Over.

This is what we did on this play except we were in 11 personnel instead of 21 as the picture above shows.

TE>QB jokes aside, we could have Evans, Rogers, Hodges, Ford, and Dragon all on the field at once and they all have experience throwing the ball. The possibilities are endless.

Evans read options to Rogers who flea flickers to a sweeping Ford who rolls out and completes a TD to Bucky.

Just re-watched the majority of the snaps from the last two years against ECU. My quick hits: Thank god they graduated Terrible Terry Williams and a couple of those receivers. Our offense was not good against ECU and neither was our defense. Offensive plays took too long and there was too much room for decision making errors (Brewer was a true grit player but half of the crazy good plays he made were required due to the crazy bad plays he made just prior). Our defense was playing all man and loading the box on a team that doesn't run much and spreads it out, it just seemed like a recipe for disaster. Its amazing how different our offense is watching these games compared to last week. I don't want to get my hopes up because this ECU team is scary talented and they know their identity well but from the last couple weeks, I see a totally different VT team on both sides of the ball.

I also have to say I don't really know for sure what we've got in this year's squad. The first week was obviously a vanilla gameplan. Against UT, we let the moment get to us a little and mental mistakes cost the game against a suspect opponent (honestly anyone could have beaten us with those choice turnovers). BC seems too much like a fluke at this point. Hopefully we will get another shut down performance but I'm not quite ready to jump back on the hype train.
