I can't disagree. I just seemed to lose visual on him. I didn't see him involved much. Moss stood out- there was a drive where he either struggled to get off blocks or got of the block but missed the tackle on a series of DJ Reid runs. He didn't look like a kid who could come in and start and be successful playing like that.

That's gotta be the dumbest thing to get a JR for. Issue a warning telling you not to do it again then move on. Geeze that would've pissed me off
The monogram club is the sports alumni group for VT. I know that they are stilling struggling to get younger former players into it. I cant speak to how basketball players are treated when they come back I can only talk about who Ive interacted with in person and online. This is how I found out about the football players not feeling wanted by the prior AD around the teams and school.
Skip and Faux-er Fox deserve each other. Done.

Football is a good start but they then need to move on to all the other sports. As I pointed out back a few basketball posts ago, many of our basketball alumni find their way on to professional courts, more so than even the football team, so being able to recognize our alumni for what they gave us now, what they continue to give in terms of building the Hokie brand and also their potential to be great benefactors to the school is an area we have long missed the boat on except in rare cases. Also being able to talk about our alumni's history as part of recruiting, and acknowledge or involve them going forward would likely pay great benefits to improving how some of our athletic programs are viewed. I know Hokiesports.com earlier this month posted an list of all of our current alumni at the different levels of MLB. http://www.hokiesports.com/baseball/recaps/20150413aaa.html
Holy crap, I'm so jealous. Having lunch with him would definitely be at the top of my bucket list.
Agreed. That is a most dangerous game.

Where's the penalty flag? /s
not saying the university should give any athlete leniency just was a statement about what was different.
don't think we should play the athlete vs normal student game because it won't look pretty.
Anyone remember the Hokie Bird statue thievery incident from in front of Moog on North Main street...on or about December 4, 2006....yeah me either!
For those of you who haven't seen all 88 emojis: (personal favorite: Horse on a Treadmill)

I think this is a really important point and I was also going to make it. Here's some articles on football players and marijuana use:

But both are delicious.
LOL. Nah, I'm that dude that goes to the bar with his friends and orders the Coke. They never charge me for it though. #winning
Is that Section 10? I was sitting on the end of row xx.
The university is treating them the same way. The public may be a different story, but that doesn't entitle them to leniency by the university.
Also, the publicity has trades over an academic scholarship student:
Athletes get (and academic scholarship students don't get): 1st priority on classes, free tutoring, state-of-the-art gym facilities, awesome game room, hundreds of dollars in free VT gear, free nutrition and athletic training,
Tradeoff: some mean people say bad things about you on the internet
LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE!
Side note, Jackie MacMullan is one of my favorite voices on that show. She's awesome
Yeah there were three things I didn't like at all about Wilbon over the years:
1) He bashes VT all the time. Constantly. If VT is notable for any reason, he just bashes the heck out of us.
2) He doesn't know a single thing about soccer.
3) He doesn't know even the littlest thing about college football. During college football season, I used to watch PTI expecting analysis, but every time they discussed on-the-field college stuff, I was stunned at how much more I knew about it than they did.
Well, to put it bluntly, it didn't go so well.
I will say that thanks to everyone's advice and support, I was fully prepared and the bait/techniques worked.
Unfortunately, I section of the river we were at must be the most shallow section in the entire river. For 100 yards in either direction, the deepest the river was just below knee level.
Did we catch fish? Yes, but none was larger than the size of my hand. So we literally threw everything we caught back. It was just unfortunate where we were located. A better section of the river and I have no doubt I would have reeled in fish for days.
My roommate and I are thinking about trying again this weekend, but here in the Potomac, and see if we have better luck.
Thanks again everyone for your help. It's greatly appreciated!
update:
We did take it out last saturday. Motor ran great...got 75 minutes on 1 liter of gas. What I didn't anticipate was just how sensitive weight placement is in that lightweight rig. Once we got the seats in the right places, I had trouble comfortably reaching the tiller handle. The base handle was too short, the extension I bought was too long. All fixable. Biggest challenge with the outboard long term will be reaching the shift lever.
On short ventures, which is what I'll do most, I think the drill will be to use an electric trolling motor with forward/reverse/speed in the handle.
Now, if the wind will lay down...
Majority of us, in my experience, didn't enjoy getting folks in trouble or dealing with the paperwork. We were mostly looking for a way to cut the cost of going to college by getting free room and board in exchange for making sure nobody screws up too bad.
Would there be as much outrage if they were 3rd string long snappers? Those guys are also public figures and D1 athletes. I have a feeling in that case there would be a total of 4 comments in this thread, all saying "kids will be kids."

Agreed. And I certainly didn't waste my hard-earned money to see it in person.
