As a former student athlete at a much smaller school, it IS difficult. I think that this was a smart decision by the coaching staff. It will endear the players to the staff even more. If there's a fan appreciation day (as there usually is) in the fall, get them then. The players are spending 8-10 hrs a day on football and do not get to see their families that often. I am in favor of this decision.

So if we see a barefoot guy walking towards Blacksburg, pick you up?

I'm hoping that if you run twice as many plays in practice that you'll be twice as likely at game time to run the play properly and without penalties. With the limited amount of time that the NCAA allows for practice, this could be a big plus.

UVA football Twitter went on a blocking rampage the last 24 hours. So many people blocked from seeing their account after this screw up was pointed out.

Feel good about recruiting overall but think Crosby is Rock Top bound. If he is committing today wouldn't he either be coming to the spring game tomorrow or just waiting until then to announce? Can't imagine he would commit to the good guys on this big weekend and then go to a Nike camp.

The VT twitter account is not one of my favorites but that debate is neither here nor there but I will say I applauded Pete's capitalization of this gaffe. Very well done.

But seriously at least change the fonts.

We live two states away and get none of these type of local broadcasts that give you a feel for the coach and his family. Much thanks to mybrisum for posting. Seems like he is a really good culture and temperament fit for old alumni like me, it's easier to get attached to and root for someone when you feel they're one of the good guys.

well, for one, I wasn't trying to be snobby about it. But since you called me out I want to point out that I am, in fact, right since you conceded yourself that both ways are acceptable. Below is an example of one way to do it that I think makes sense. I'm not going to nitpick over it though. This is a public on-line forum after all. And as an engineer, my general grasp of the English language is pedestrian at best.

Another widely used technique is to write the word as we would speak it. For example, since most people saying "Mr. Hastings' pen" would not pronounce an added s, we would write Mr. Hastings' pen with no added s. But most people would pronounce an added s in "Jones's," so we'd write it as we say it: Mr. Jones's golf clubs. This method explains the punctuation of for goodness' sake.

Be there for the fourth year in a row tailgating with my daughter and her friends for their last Spring game before they are alums. Been some good times.

I was totally ready to party like it was 1999 last night but the wife was not down with playing a drunk coed that wanted to have fun, something about being pregnant, throwing up and hating my guts...

As a college student, I could only imagine how difficult it is for those athletes to take a course load and then have all the practices and other team related stuff in addition in regards to being able to have free time and not do schoolwork or be at practice or meetings. They probably don't get to see their parents much, so I'm sure it means a lot that they get to see them now, especially during a stressful part of the school year. Good move by Fuente, IMO, even if it rubs off poorly on some families.

I love everything about the Fuente family.

Thanks for posting; I had seen WSLS advertising this and was hoping there would be videos available online for those of us outside the NRV.

Dammit, we're going to have to change our saying from, " # at their Spring Game", to "# at their Spring Festival."

Sounds like they're going to have a bunch of fairies dancing around maypoles though.
