I think it's safe to say we are still feeling the effects of the disastrous retention of the 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes. Yes, the current players were more highly regarded coming out of high school, but the lack of upperclassman leadership is telling. Not counting transfers, only Wilson was on a roster prior to Buzz's hire.

All that being said, if we see any noticeable player development over the next year, we should be a threat.

There are a lot of Big Ten fans that are unhappy with Maryland's move to the Big Ten, not least of which are the PSU fans.

If there ever happens to be another major shift in conference alignment where everything is a free for all and teams actually get cut from their current conference, we may end up with Maryland back in the ACC again.

I agree that this is an attractive matchup for a number of reasons, not least of which are the alumni base in NoVA and that Maryland is a P5 opponent. Recruiting ground matters as well.

But man do I wish we could get a sexier matchup than Maryland. This game is over a decade away and I still don't think the Terps will be able to pull together their football program in time.

I'd love to see us branch out a little past the Big Ten. I can't remember when we played a Pac12 team other than in a bowl. Or a Big12 team.

Currently, we do not have the horses to run with a UVA or a Miami team. They both are very talented and very deep and more importantly, their guard play is outstanding. I don't think Allen can be that guy, he makes makes too many mistakes and doesn't get his teammates involved. Robinson could be that guy but he is not there yet. In the ACC, you CAN NOT go almost 11 minutes without a bucket from the floor and expect to beat anybody. Turning the ball over 25% of the time, combined with ice cold shooting is a formula for disaster.

We are at a critical part of the year and should be interesting to see how the team plays out now that the other teams in the conference have figured out which buttons to push with our guys. We still need height, but more importantly we HAVE to play smart in order to win. Last night, that didn't happen. Breathe in, breathe out and let's move on.

I have participated in 1 non-local competition. It was the forerunner to the Sam Adams Longshot, in 1995.
Won a couple of awards but, decided it was too much of a pain and never competed again.
I have other friends that think it's a blast, however, and compete in these types of things quite a bit.
Good luck to you.

I'm ready to start on my 4th batch (I tend to stick with 1 gallon batches due to not wanting to invest in more equipment). Each one has had good and bad things to take from it, and I'm still following recipes. I hope to get more adventurous in the future to tweak my recipes and try different combinations. Good luck with the competition!

I may be coming back to this thread as for my spring beer in a couple weeks. I want to do something with a lot of citrus hops and some agave nectar, haven't settled on a style yet though, and I am not a hop head. I like hops, but they have to be balanced with the malt and not take over the flavor profile.

Give up 65 points and you should be knocking on the door of a win against the #11 team in the country. No one other than Robinson could knock down a jump shot. I'm sure there is a reason, but I would like to know why Jalen never saw significant minutes in the 2nd half. Especially with Seth out there playing so horribly. Really hope Justin Robinson gets a start next time out. Kid deserves it for how he has been playing and Seth needs a wake up call.
