Fox's commitment to North Carolina is in serious question after the four-star defensive end visited Virginia Tech alongside teammate Emmanuel Belmar, a Hokies commit, this past weekend. The trip reportedly went very well and it's believed that Fox, the No. 12-rated weakside defensive end in the 2016 class, now intends to make an announcement on National Signing Day. That usually doesn't mean good news for the school a prospect is currently committed to.

The rumor I heard, and again just a rumor, was he wasn't jiving with the new staff and didn't like the new S&C. I knew some guys would leave with a new coach, but I was hoping it wasn't on the O line
I hope he returns too as he seems like a solid kid, not just in bulk. But sometimes something inside dies or you think it has died. It could be one big thing or many such as a poor relationship with a coach(es), grades, maturity level, negative influences, or just lack of self-awareness. Corey Marshall might be an example of someone who was able to step away to prioritize and then come back. There was nothing exemplary about me as a player like Austin, but a long time ago I did the same thing, turned my head, walked away, and just shrugged my shoulders as I could think of nothing to say when asked to come back. I got my degree, but not that special experience so few have an opportunity to get. It took a long time and things have turned out fine, but I now regret my decision.
Sucks, I thought we had him in our back pocket as a secret weapon for next year's OL. That he's still a student at VT means what, exactly? That it's too late to transfer this semester and he's waiting until summer? Or maybe his football career is over for one reason or another? I'll be curious to know why this happened, hopefully nothing dangerous to his life outside of football.
I don't think Leota was that great, South Carolina told him to look around and it seemed like we never showed much interest once Vice was back in town. 2016 was a good year but unfortunately we didn't close on any of them of note, 2017 will be key but looking around regionally not seeing a lot. I'm hoping we pick up some more Juo guys

One of the guys from last weekend mentioned he really was impressed with the SC coach, I don't recall a recruit mentioning Gentry in recent memory
stealing them away from UNC would make it that much more sweeter.
As opposed to sticking with UNC, which would be that much more sweater.
Riding time is definitely a game changer between high school and collegiate levels, I've noticed there's a lot less need to actually go for the pin or multiple TDs to decide a match. The Penn State dual was a good example, their wrestlers only really needed one take down and one escape to build a comfortable lead, whereas Tech wrestlers had to rapidly accrue multiple TDs to erase early deficits.
Plus, riding on top for that long absolutely burns the bottom guy who has to constantly work or risk getting called for stalling. I don't know how viable it is on a collegiate level where the athleticism and endurance is obviously much higher, but it was a pretty useful tactic in HS to just wear a kid out.
That's if we let you drive across the Mason Dixon line.

I can't imagine the stress of being a student athlete. I'll never fault any player for wanting to step away, whether temporarily or permanently.
sometimes the student athlete life isn't for everyone.. its a whole other animal for sure. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
Sad that he's no longer on the football team but I think we often forget how tough it is to be a student athlete. He's still a hokie though and I wish him success in whatever he pursues!
Put my 2016 Football deposit down on Sunday. I'm pretty sure I'll keep my 2x2 aisle seats in section 15. With the rolling reseating every year it is more challenging to make big jumps in location without a big jump in Hokie Club rank.
Hopefully he opts to return, at least he is continuing his education

That second scenario sounds like guys wrestling to not lose. If theyre on top they cant really get score on other than a reversal or escape. Last year that boring strategy really plagued the 149 and 174 lb weight classes.
