17% chance LOLUVA beats us...maybe using NCAA 2003! See what I did there!
Muck Fatt Ryan! Or something like that...
Sorry, felt that belonged here.
definitely gonna tell my kids "you can major in anything you want, but we need to sit down and talk about job prospects for your major. If you choose a major with a smaller pool of jobs, you better be the best damned [insert major here] in your class so you can make sure you can feed yourself with that degree."
In my family we had a theater major who got 4 degrees, a religion major, a geology major, an interior design major, and an engineering major. All but one of us are still covered in student debt after being out for 8+ years. I wish our parents had made a point of approaching school a little bit more with post-school life in mind. But then again, we had a dad with a masters in journalism who built houses for a living to keep us all fed so maybe he didn't equate degree with career as much as we do these days.
Duly noted. I'm not going to be able to make it to the OSU game but I do try to make it to at least one game a season. Havent figured out which game I will be going to this year yet
I reffed intramurals with Adam at VT, didn't know him well but he was a really nice guy.
Fuck this shit.
Just no words.... I lived a large portion of my life in that area. I'm sure the community is heartsick. Condolences.
IIRC they tried one of those against us late in the game last year and had it wide open, but our pressure caused an errant throw. Lucky for us it wasn't caught, cause it could have been a game changing play.
I graduated with a BA in History (stupid decision) but am currently working in P2P sales. I'm actually in training right now to become a District Manager and get an office of my own but still don't think this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I'm sort of coming to the realization that I may HAVE to do this job for at least a year or two to overcome my disadvantage of having a History degree with a not-so-great GPA. But I do feel like working with hotels/resorts/vacation spots would be something I could enjoy doing for many years.
Why do you think that? NCSU was 4th last year without a 1000 yard rusher. There were 5 1000 yard RBs last year in the ACC. 2 of them were on teams not in the top 5 of total rushing.
Absolutely crushing news. So sad.
Mid 80s would be the most plausible to me for Purdue. GT though is definitely too low. But I totally understand why the numbers would be that low. GT-VT is going to be a coin flip game regardless of location.
Is it possible that some of the data pulled for "week 2" Purdue was accidentally pulled from week 2 Furman?
No chance we are 4th in rushing in the acc without a 1000 yard rusher.
Massey is the one I'm most familiar with. It has us at 79% which I think is pretty on the money. I'd just have to imagine if several ranking systems are used in aggregate and we ended up at 98% then a system or two has us at 99% or over. Which is absurd and I assume must be some kind of error
Well then, the OBVIOUS answer is to run it again.
I mean, UM is probably thinking, "there's no way Foster has the balls to run the EXACT same defense as last year". So you prepare for 100 different other defensive fronts, and UH OH. He just threw rock 2x in a row!
VT wins, everyone in orange is happy.

Damn, the thought of Big Bad Bruce staring at someone with bad intent just sent chills down my spine.
Also a geotech. I work for the corps of engineers. My friends affectionately refer to me as a dirt nerd.
Stanford did this best when Harbaugh was there, and it wasn't great then.
Really?? Would you please tell me what you did to erase the memory of that Orange Bowl? Or at least the second half.
The biggest thing last year was I don't think they prepared for a minute to play against a zero coverage Bear. I don't think it even crossed the OSU coaching staff's minds that VT would have the stones to go all out like that. It was a very risky strategy. In the weeks after that teams tried to use that as a blueprint to beat us and we had spent time preparing for it...it didn't go well for those other teams. They usually had to abandon it after getting severely burned on the first 2 or 3 possessions of the game. Now, I know that VT is a significantly more talented defense than any of the other teams that tried it, but it was a combination of not being prepared for it and VT aggressively attacking a green offensive line and QB who was getting some of his first PT in two years (had a season ending injury in HS). It really was a ballsy, but brilliant gameplan from VT's coaching staff.
I don't think it would be wise to try the same thing again this year. Ohio State would be prepared for it and they're not as green as they once were. A lot of times with Urban and Tom Herman last year we'd feel like they tried to overthink things too much. They'd make an intelligent football decision, ie - trying to beat the zero coverage in the air, but we would pine for them at times to just impose their will on teams and run Zeke down their throat. Granted, Zeke and the o-line were unproven at the time in last year's game, but even still throughout the year after we saw what they were developing into. Again, I don't think it would be smart to try the same defensive gameplan. Bud Foster is one of the very best in the business. I'd like to think he'd have the same rationale. What I do still expect is that, especially given a whole offseason to prepare, Bud will have another tremendous gameplan in place for Ohio State and will give them fits. I personally feel like this is going to be a good, close game.
Well, I'm at every Hokie Home Football game, lot 18.
yeah, shoot me an email...patrickwwilder@gmail.com.
Absolutely terrible news. I didn't know either of them personally, but for whatever reason I couldn't hold it together as I watched the WDBJ7 crew talk about the friends and work family they lost. Adam was a Hokie, to any TKPers that knew him, I'm extremely sorry for your loss. To any Roanoke, Martinsville or Harrisonburg locals that knew Allison, I'm also very sorry for your loss.
I think when these senseless tragedies happen a lot of the conversation after the initial reaction of shock is to discuss why it happened, or how to prevent a similar instance from happening again. I think these are valid discussions to be had (although, TKP wouldn't be the proper forum for most, if any, of them). Instead, I'll share a couple of beautiful thoughts about Allison and Adam.
We didn't share this publicly, but @AParkerWDBJ7 and I were very much in love. We just moved in together. I am numb. pic.twitter.com/tUrHVwAXcN— Chris Hurst (@chrishurstwdbj) August 26, 2015
Please say it isn't true @dowork88 - an unbelievable person and ultimate Hokie— Bo Hart (@bo_hart) August 26, 2015
Adam Ward @dowork88 interned for me in the Sports dept & had a heart of gold. Adam you will be truly missed. His smile will live on forever— Grant Kittelson (@GrantKinDC) August 26, 2015
Alison Parker was a JMU grad. Adam, a Virginia Tech grad. Worked beside both of them. The nicest people you could meet. Just in shock. #WDBJ— Cameron Austin (@CameronOAustin) August 26, 2015
Whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO!! SERIOUSLY!!
I am sick about this. Thoughts to WDBJ7 and their Families.
Dammit, why Sh*tt$burg? They already tainted Jason Worilds and now Vick. Sorry MV, I will continue to root for whoever is playing the squeelers.

Can we also get one showing how great mike London is at using timeouts
