If they are from the 757, making a day trip to Blacksburg for one of the other 7 home games isn't going to be $600. Yes, it might be a bit more work, but that isn't really a huge obstacle.
Filling the schedule with ecu, odu, an fcs team and bc breeds boredom in the fanbase, makes games less exciting and leads to non sellout crowds. Enough recruits mention the fanbase that keeping them pumped and excited for games will sell just as many recruits as playing a lower teir team on a regular basis just because they are 4 hours closer to some high schools you already have in roads with. Besides, all those kids already know who VT is, by doing home and homes another Big10 or sec school helps expose us to more kids and leads to more excitement and national conversations about us

Nicolas hopes that his business could one day take him in a similar direction.
"I could see myself doing a lot of non-profit stuff for Haiti, I want to help out my country," Nicolas said.
While the pair's native nation doesn't lack for problems to solve, Maddy says they might just be able to make a dent if they put their heads together.
"I could definitely see us going back there together and coming up with the master plan, just giving back and showing love, because it's rough down there in Haiti," Maddy said. "It'd be great go down there someday together, being able to open up schools, provide housing, something of some sort to give back to Haiti, maybe we can do that in a few years."
But that goal feels very far off indeed these days. The Haitian linemen may have a future as humanitarians, but in the meantime, they're eager to put the perfect cap on their Tech careers.
i think it's something these boys have wanted to do since they realized they had a talent that could propel them forward. instead of using the trappings of fame to gather material possessions, they want to help their home country.
some of the exchange students i met while at VT wanted to go back to their home countries to contribute ASAP. they were grateful for the opportunities given by an American university but their heart strings were pulling them back home to serve. i think it's rather admirable.
Is it really a "wild turkey" if the player receiving the snap is a QB?
And isn't the point of lining up a running QB in that situation that he can actually throw the ball often enough to keep the defense honest?

Towards the end of my time in the NRV all I ever got from there was the pesto pizza or the Pompeii Pie.
The 10 extra minutes and gas is worth it.

I can't make it. I'm not going to make it. How do I endure another month.
Like playing for a name program and then getting to come back and in front of all your friends and family in your hometown as opposed to a 5 or 600 dollar trip that some probably cant make at all?
I bet. Running around without being able to use your arms is surprisingly more tiring than just plain running. And those bubbles don't look like they breathe too well either. Gonna get slippery in there
I will say that the ODU ticket might be harder to get than some. Small stadium, but decent fan base for a newcomer to FBS football. If you are from that neck of the woods, and would get a chance to play in front of the hometown peeps/family/old coach twice in your college career, its small little check mark in the plus column. And lets be honest, it should be a win for VT. (At least more of an opportunity for a win than ECU...) An early season game with ODU in Lane would allow for their friends/family to come to the Blacksburg to see a couple games during the year.
It's not far to go to UNC/Duke/NCState from the ODU area; closer than VT in fact, so if they start poaching that area it would be a negative to our recruiting efforts.
