Which brings me back to the whole "did ya notice how the lunchpail is becoming more front and center during media sessions this year?"

By the way, don't google 'things that make you go hmm'... Its basically a gateway to 9/11 truthers...

I love VT/UVA during Thanksgiving. Make that an annual game, get it in prime time. Name it some catchy name and take over the spot. It worked for AM/TX.

I've always felt that the Wild Turkey or variants thereof had to be handled very carefully during games. If done haphazardly or too often, I get the feeling the coaching staff are Monty Python fans....

I imagine it went something like this. Whit walks a round campus looking at stuff, telling his assistant - "
put that on the list of stuff we can sell the naming rights to. Put that on it. And that. And that." Someone hears him and says, I wanted to name that after Beamer. And that. And that. To relieve everyone Whit says - "what street is this? Lets just change it to Beamer Way."

Memorial Day is in May, but I like where your head is at, always planning ahead.

Or maybe dim/cover them like arenas do, and have spotlights going during Enter Sandman....

Probably wouldn't show well on ESPN, but it would be f'n awesome in person

Yeah... losing to ECU really hurt attendance against GT, and then losing to GT, especially in the way in which we lost, completely took the wind out of the sails.

That last bit is very important. Opener vs in the middle of the season when we knew we weren't doing well and it was freezing. Uva being during thanksgiving also doesn't help

And I totally get what you are saying. But the kids that is affecting is those who we are competing with odu, uva, unc, duke and umd over. Yes, we miss out on a few of them, but you can't get them all and overall are doing OK with those kids.

Or issue lies in the kids in that area where we are competing with the sec and big10 schools. The ones we are losing obviously don't care about staying close to home, but want big games to say they played against the best. Going against odu isn't helping us there. And we are doing better than the last 3 years or so, but I'd much rather see us play even lower teir P5 schools like UK or Iowa or even MD again than just another cusa team

with the copious amount of alcohol before the game strobe lights would be a bad bad idea

I don't think it's Whit forcing Frank out. I agree with smitty above - I immediately suspected this is part of a protracted, pre-planned farewell lap for Frank. I bet Frank, Whit, and the assistant coaches know what's up and that's probably about it. I still think conventional wisdom is that 2016 is the year he hangs up the whistle. It all works out too well. The naming of Beamer Way reinforces the morale of the program to remind them of what he's done, and to stick with him because he's done things the right way. We'll see a few subtle events over the next 2 years, I am thinking.

1st point is correct.. with Bucky flourishing at TE no need to use him here.

2nd point- Motley never threw it out of that formation..would he be trusted to throw this year who knows? But looking at injury history I'd rather keep his jersey clean and let durkin get some yards.

Imagine another freak quarter where motley gets concussed/ankle injury and brewer takes a huge lick.. you're then relying on durkin or a true freshmen to come in and actually move the ball.

Apologies in advance for any seizures this post may cause

Great write up on schedules.

With attendance dwindling nationally, many suggest abandoning FCS opponents in the name of customer service. But wait. William and Mary drew a larger crowd to Virginia Tech last season (62,722) than did Georgia Tech (62,318), Western Michigan (59,625), Boston College (55,729) and Virginia (60,431). Granted, W&M was the opener, when hopes were high. Moreover, kickoff times and weather affect attendance, too.

This is a well deserved honor but the skeptic in me doesn't like the timing, being the week before opening camp.

People typically start erecting statues and naming streets after 1) a national championship, 2) a significant donation, or 3) someone announces they are leaving the program. I hope Whit is not trying to force the coach out by starting the "thank-you road show."

Again - totally deserved for Coach Beamer but timing is strange. At least its not Beamer Way, brought to you by Kroger (for all your tailgating needs).
