I think you're kidding yourself if you believe that Bud will get a try at head coach, and if it doesn't work out go back to the defensive coordinator position.
The situations are not comparable.
If we hit miller every time he is on the field whether he has the ball or not, he will be ineffective.
Sorry my mistake lol. I am on your page. Fantastic point!
In the case of Miller, who was recruited by Tressel, he had already won accolades in the BIG before Meyer got there. I think UM's system definitely takes advantage of all available athleticism and turns out Offenseive juggernauts. They recruit for H Backs for Petes sake! Their use of Samuel will be key I think. UM gained much more confidence in him by the end of the season.
Me too. I am going blue in the face trying to convince Buckeye fans that this game will be close. I'm thinking 27-21. I can feel my stress hormones release when I see someone say we're going to score 60 (and I'm sure the Hokie fans feel the same way about that).
Honestly, you're not wrong about the preparation. While I still really want to beat VT this year, a lot of Buckeye fans, myself included, came to terms with the loss because of the gigantic improvement we saw after it. Without the loss to the Hokies, I think OSU would have lost to Penn State, Michigan State, or even Minnesota, which was just a 7 point win. That may sound like sour grapes but when rewatching the VT game compared to the last few games of the season, it's obvious you're not watching the same team. The loss contributed to chemistry, experience, and execution in a way that only being humbled can.
I'll throw a little different interpretation out there. Is there much evidence that QBs in Urban Meyer's system are anything more than products of the system (like what is debated about air raid and accepted as a given with option QBs)? Now that certainly speaks to Urban Meyer having an excellent system that produces loads of success at the collegiate level, but it also could suggest that a defense with the right coaching (scheme) and players stands a decent chance at slowing down Meyer's offense regardless of the guy taking the snaps.
Yea, I'll second VTGuitarMan. I think you're tremendously undervaluing Wiles. He's one of our best coaches (hence the nickname 'Sacksburg'). If something were to happen to Bud (ie, he got sick and couldn't run the defense) I'd expect Wiles lead the defense.
I strongly disagree. This team (and its fanbase) spent the entirety of the season hearing about an "inexplicable" and "head-scratching" loss - no disrespect meant, but statistically, in terms of at least one metric, this was the worst loss by a National Champion since the late 60s. Rest assured, we want to crush you too.
But it was already a catch.
"It wasn't like we were getting beat for those sacks," Decker said. "We had six blockers, they were bringing seven. We had five blockers, they were bringing six."
What exactly is the point of this quote? That's like us saying Duke Johnson didn't beat us last year, he just ran where we didn't have defenders over and over.
Please keep running that yap Buckeyes. Keep talking. Loving the bulletin board material.
"Does not mean it wouldn't work for us."
Thanks for clarifying the details, but I was actually saying the exact opposite of your last sentence. The point was that if Bud failed after a year or two of being head coach, they could just say this thing isn't working (like anOSU did) and let him have his old job back at DC. And my point was that it worked out pretty well for the Buckeyes in getting Urban Meyer, so I think hiring Bud after the Frank Beamer era is over would actually be a good move on our part.
How is his rap career going?
Shoot even I have a little disrespect for our offense.
All I know is that the first hit Dadi lays on Jones, it will be the hardest he's ever been hit in a football game in his life.
Too bad we probably won't see this, because Barrett is the better player and will likely be the starting QB on September 7th.
Thing is, I'm #TeamPlaystation and don't game much these days. But I will always be up for an NCAA challenge

# | Virginia Tech Football Recruiting: 2016 WR Phillip Patterson Commits to the Hokies I don't know how it has gone unsaid yet, but do they need more people at your previous job? I actually love trying many beers, wines, liquors, and cigars.
What I got from the OSU players is that the Hokies prepared them well for their run to the national championship. YOU ARE WELCOME BUCKEYES.
Hokies D & Bud will prepare them again, except this time around, the Hokies will not be too overjoyed and fail to prepare for the next games.
Is it that good? A former firefighter I know is a manager there and offered me a reserved table but I wasn't sure since isn't it a chain?
Casual mid-afternoon bar crawl. That should get you mostly caught up on experiencing Blacksburg.
Our normal bar crawl itinerary was:
1. Start at El Rods with a margarita (Jumbo Texas if you hate yourself).
2. 622 for a beer/cider and some pool.
3. Taphouse for either scotch you can't find elsewhere in the burg, or beer you can't find elsewhere in the burg.
4. PKs for pizza rolls and beer.
5. Hokie House for a burger, some shuffleboard/ darts, and a BAM of Yuengling.
6. The Cellar for the $2 dollar luck of the draw (usually good stuff close to it's sell by date, occasionally PBR though)
7. Sharkey's for a Long Island and hating yourself for going in Sharkey's.
8. Underground for a pint and some darts surrounded by people with beards.
9. Big Al's because it's there.
10. Champs, because it's usually not crowded. Be wary of the $25 minimum tab.
11. Rivermill for Irish Car Bombs and awkwardly seeing professors getting smashed.
12. TOTS for a rail, not because you want to, but solely because it's obligatory.
I knew I forgot one on my list!
Supposdley xboxone will soon play Xbox games.
I don't buy that this game is "huge" for them in the sense that it is for us. Us beating them Last year didn't keep them out of their conference championship game, the playoffs, or winning the Natty. However, it has been on our mind for a year. This is the biggest game in Lane and we want to crush them. They just want to get by.

Look. You're misinterpreting what I'm saying. I can obviously observe that Wiles is an integral part and very much contributed to the construction of Sacksburg. What I can't wrap my brain around is why and what makes Wiles a superior candidate and the person of the "right stuff" to Gray. So he's got "more experience". Just because a person has more experience coaching doesn't automatically make them the right person.
Look, I'm not trying to undervalue his contributions or even his coaching. It's just that from my perspective, Gray looks like the better guy. I guess I'm in the minority on that but I'll deal.
Also regarding the Co-DCs, I'd be fine with that but I'm going to make a music analogy. Back when Phil Smith (former Principal Trpt of the NYP) was brought from the CSO he was made Co-Principal alongside John Ware for the first decade he was there. However, you bank on it that only ONE of those 2 played ALL the 1st Trpt parts, and that was Phil.
If Gray and Wiles are made Co-DCs which one gets all the Primary Coordinating tasks? I believe it should be Gray.
