I don't think we're going to have a reciever hit 1000 yds as long as Frank is here. We've always been a run first offense, even now. It's just that our running game has been nonexistant the past 3 years. Once Lawson comes, who can run the ball as well, I expect that philosophy to come back. Our offense doesn't work well for someone to get 1000 yds a year, so it will be difficult for Ford to accomplish that even in 2016.
Last I heard his hands weren't that great, apparently not even good enough to challenge guys like Bradshaw and Asante.
Also no mention of Joel Caleb in the transcripts.
You could actually go back about 3 years and you've done the same amount of in home as Beams.

You give coaches 5 year extensions because it ensures all the kids in the upcoming recruiting class (or classes, depending on how far in advance the extension is signed) that the coach will be there throughout their time with the school, even with a redshirt year.
Well they responded very well after getting slaughtered by WVU, beating #2 Miami 31-7. I think the team rose back up to #5 in the polls, but then lost to Pitt. Then the season really hit the fan. They beat Temple by 1 because they missed an extra point in OT, then lost to Boston College, UVA (wasn't that 12 years ago?), and Cal in the Insight Bowl, where Aaron Rodgers infamously laughed at the Hokie defense. Didn't Carter Warley miss like 3 field goals that game or something?

I don't think we'd be a perennial top 10 or in annual contention for a natty even with saban as a coach. I do think with a younger more personable coach who places an emphasis on recruiting and holding his staff accountable for recruiting that we would bring in better talent, which in theory should lead to more wins.

He had surgery, got better and now is doing fine time to move on. As for it being used against him what a joke, no coach can say they will be at any school in 5 years.
The biggest thing that has held us back is our general acceptance of piss poor offensive units over the past 15 years due to the fact we had a defense that stifled opponents to wins. Allowing that to continue for as long as it did... Yeah, I'll blame Beamer for that one. But his ability to actually coach this program and make it a contender, that is not something you can argue. He's really, really good at that.

# | Virginia Tech has a Plethora of Tight Ends, but too few Proven Wideouts that would make sense if VT was running a similar offense as they have historically, but they aren't so apples and oranges. it would not take much more to get a single player to 1000 yards. if our offense had played consistently last season Ford would have been damn close already.

Foster has put forth much more effort in recent years. I definitely think that has to do with the possibility of getting a HC'ing gig.

Only one of our players in the secondary got any votes whatsoever and it was Kendall. That'll be quite interesting to look back on at the end of the year, especially if Brandon returns to health and Chuck keeps playing like he did all last year.

Conversely, if you have a kid that has Sandman as the background music, do you just give him a LOI form and tell him "Here kid....just fill this out, sign it, and send it in on signing day."
