I'm not a Vikings fan, so I don't know the whole story. Maybe it is a little of both. I just find it hard to believe that they'd get rid of a guy who's been there for a while and who was serviceable (middle-of-the-NFL in yards and YPP, only 2 touchbacks his last year...) just to save the $300k or so difference between veterans and rookies.
Or we establish the times where we beat up on everyone. Starting next year.
However they were only able to homestead because of the Indian appropriations act which moved native Americans off the land in ok and onto reservations. Pretty sure most native Americans didn't support that move at the time.

Honestly, if I was Smart I would've done the same thing. I don't think the fans should get a pass just because they bought a ticket. If you as a fan want to say something to a player, I don't care that you're inside a stadium, you should prepare for consequences of you saying whatever. If that consequence includes getting pushed, ejected, or the piss beaten out of you so be it. I really don't think Smart should have been suspended, but oh well.
I always love watching a player who plays to his strengths. It is great to have a corner who can make spectacular plays. But the best players prepare themselves so they are in a position to make hard plays look easy. Reavis always seems to be in a good position to make a play on the football, and finding the football in man coverage has not been a strength of our safeties for a long time.

Is it where they play or where they pay taxes (Virginia) and spend more of their days (Ashburn)? So shouldn't they be the "Loudoun Aristocrappers"?
You could have written something like "the Washington team name is a racial slur, like other racial slurs" because I just cringed reading all of that. And I don't think that was your intent.

# | Bitter blog - New o-line coach Stacy Searels 'a perfect fit' at Virginia Tech Like Grimes, Searels said he'll personally go to see every offensive line prospect the Hokies offer. ("You cant just do that off watching him on film one time," he said. "You can get fooled on film.") With a large group of seniors on the o-line this year, Virginia Tech expects to sign a significant number of linemen again.
The Hokies offered seven offensive linemen so far, with Austin Clark, Brian Chaffin, and Matthew Burrell all visiting the campus this past weekend. Donald Brown, who I am not sure if he has received an offer, could be a guard or a defensive tackle. He was on campus this weekend as well.
Most of the recruiting sites seem to think we are in good shape with Clark (an excellent tackle prospect from the same high school as Caleb Farris) and Chaffin (a mobile center from Charlotte.) Burrell has looked terrific on film during my review of Travon McMillian, so I hope that prognostications of him going out of state prove to be false.
I am in the midst of a major deep dive film review on Searels offensive lines at Texas, Georgia, and LSU. Once we complete our recruit film reviews and coverage of spring practice, we will do a major post on what to expect with Searels as an offensive line coach. I will say, he isn't a "system" guy. His offensive lines at LSU mirrored Nick Saban's zone philosophy. Texas did a bunch of veer blocking in their read option offense. Their offensive linemen pulled much more than VT's did under Grimes.
The biggest problem with this is I heard people saying yesterday that this guy will be on the same level as Jackie Robinson. If anyone is stupid enough to believe that they should be castrated.
Yeah it all depends on that freezing line, and you gotta keep an eye on that low the night before and the night after too this is gonna be an all day kind of event
Richmond is kinda right on the cusp of either freezing rain or some sleet/rain so I'm not gonna be as confident with that prediction. I'll wait for the soundings before I go nuts
I know it's not the same situation, but there are similarities.
One was cheating on his wife. The other prefers members of his own gender. Both are technically legal, though one probably violates a marriage contract. Both are also generally viewed negatively by society, however undeserved it is.
In any case, my main purpose was primarily to joke on Petrino, and secondly to play devil's advocate.
No he wasn't, the media made it out to be that way because that's what they do. But my buddy who is a huge Vikings fan told me Kluwe hadn't been good for the last couple years and they were able to get a guy at the rookie minimum instead of paying the veterans minimum for Kluwe (best case for keeping him).
Please point out where in the US Constitution they have the authority to enact social change and more specifically where the authority arises for them to force a private company to change its name because some people find it offensive. They haven't banned the KKK yet so where is this social change they are authorized to enact?

When dealing with younger coaches, I think he'll be fine. The problem is the old-school, hard ass guys who think that being gay is worse than being a criminal. If you want some insight into how some teams treat being gay, look at any of the Blair Walsh articles. The guy was one of the most consistent punters in the league and was basically forced out of the Lions after he openly supported gay marriage. Also, Kerry Rhodes was one of the best safeties in the league, but once it came out that he is gay, no team in the NFL would touch him. I want to believe that people in the league are going to be compassionate towards him, but I'm certainly not going to hold my breath.
EDIT: yeah I meant Chris Kluwe. Good catch from the guy responding.
Also, just look at Chris Kluwe. He was ousted from the Vikings for merely being outspoken about gay rights, not being gay himself (he's married with kids, fwiw).

Well, there's the thing, it kind of was my intent.
People are numb to the Redskins name. They see it so often that they don't realize that its such a horrible slur. Putting it side by side with the same types of derogatory slurs of other races just shows how bad it truly is. In my opinion, if you're going to cringe at a team with a name of one of the ones I listed, then there really is no excuse to why you should want the name 'Redskins' to stick around. They're all equally bad, and should be treated as such.
