I may get jumped for saying this but to me Raines has been a liability on offense. He has no offensive arsenal other then that horrible jump hook that if we are lucky goes in 20% of the time. Also, when he gets the ball in the post, he has already made up his mind that hes going to shoot no matter what and won't kick for a better shot. When i watched the Michigan State game, MSU was basically letting Raines get position and take his same ole jump hook post move. I know I would. This is not just this season but most of his time here at Tech. No player offensively has made me cringe more since Cheick Diakite.

Still very worried that the twerps will sway Keihn due to proximity and playing in the B1G. We know that perception is more important than reality, so even though B1G football is a ghost of its former self on the national level, they still have the history and all those $'s from their network to convince recruits. Playing against tOSU, Michigan, PSU, etc... is a decent selling line, so hopefully the VT staff is selling playing time and Bud Foster's defense to the max.

Taking 3s wont work without any interior threat. Raines would've helped here.
I am not a huge Bball fan but even I could tell alot of the mistakes were carelessness or basic-
that's much worse than going up against a team who is playing lights out.
Basic mistakes are easy to correct and maybe no more 2 week breaks mid season might help too.
Part I Ladies Football Clinic 2008
Correction to Part III Ladies Football Clinic 2013, I said the person in Beamers office who made the comments was Lester Karlin. It was John Ballein and not Lester Karlin, as I mistakenly said.
Keep in mind this was the summer of 2008. We were the 2007 ACC Champions and lost the bowl game to Kansas. The defense was number 1 and the offense was 100. It was Tyrods first year and we used both Taylor and Glennon that season. The fans were upset and complaining about the ranking of the offense and losing the bowl game.
I decided to pick on Torrian for one of the hard questions since he is so nice, young and on the defensive side. At a slow time at the check-in table, I asked him if they had any plans or goals to improve upon the 100th ranked offense. He was embarrassed and looked around quickly to see if anyone had heard the question. He then quickly said dont say anything about that around the football office and smiled. That said volumes about the attitude and how that was viewed and handled.
The big highlight of the morning presentations was Tyrod, Glennon and Chancellor modeling the new uniforms for the 2008 season. We were the first ones to see these uniforms. This was followed by their giving John Ballein, who was wearing shorts and was introduced as Chicken Legs, the jerseys. The three then took off each piece of the uniform and threw it up into the crowd. The ladies were going wild yelling and holding their hands up to catch what was thrown. The players were having a great time doing this. It is a good thing there are many layers to those uniforms. When the players were reduced to their shorts, the crowd kept yelling, More, More. The players were then embarrassed and did not know what to do. Glennons face was actually beet red, as he resorted to taking off his socks with Tyrod looking on in amazement. I have great, detailed pictures of all of the above taken by the photographers at the clinic and then posted on the free part of Beamerball. I could send them to someone who would be willing to post them for me.

I was not a math major, but I think you are right. Still, 6 murders a day is not bad. That's probably less than Memphis.
Spent a few summers and holidays in ELP back in the day. There were several decent golf courses even in winter. Not sure but I think the horse track is operating in the winter. It is on the west side just inside the New Mexico State line. Very close to state line restaurant ELPhokie mentioned. I also really enjoyed the great American steakhouse just west of town. Couldn't agree more about staying out of Juarez. It was bad back in my day so I can't even imagine how bad it is today with the cartel influence. Sun Bowl is a unique experience worth the trip if good weather. Hopefully it lives up to its name!
Sorry about this complete repost. I am trying to get the hang of all this and am not doing too well. I thought I was just changing the name of the person in Bud's office from Karlin to John Ballein, but it came up with a whole new post repeat. It does make a big difference of the person who was in Beamer's office though. I was up too late that night I originally posted. Also, even though someone was kind enough to post instructions to post pictures, I am not able to do that, at least at the present time. It will take a lot of time to try to figure it out for someone like me, and I just don't have the time at this time of the year.

Part III of Ladies Football Clinic June 2013
During the facilities tour we got to go into the coaches' offices. Beamers new office was beautiful. Unlike Buds office, Beamers was in perfect order with no stray papers or anything that was not decorative being visible. John Ballein was in Beamers office at the time, and I remarked about the condition of the office and that there were no papers on the desk, etc. His reply said everything about his relationship with Beamer. He said yes and that he was so proud of him for cleaning up his office all by himself without having been told to do so. It sounded like a father talking about his son. Apparently Beamer really respects him and does whatever Lester tells him to do.
Bud was in his office at the time. Like most of the day, he was occupied with his phone because of the next day was a big recruiting day. I was admiring his Frank Broyles Award from 2006 and took a picture. I congratulated him for receiving it. He got up from his chair and came over and talked about it. You could tell how happy and proud he was to have received it.
Bud was super all day, as everywhere he went there was a line for pictures and autographs. He was gracious, was constantly smiling and granted everyones request.
This is the end of 2013 and I will soon start 2008, which is much better with more information and many excellent pictures. I am going to try to post the three pictures from Buds office. Note that he is wearing his glasses, a rare sight.
Help, I am challenged and can't figure out how to attach the pictures of Bud's office and his award.
I'd be interested to see whether the Mexican food in San Antonio is better than El Paso. There's some darn good mexican food in San Antonio and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I hope so. You could certainly say that the talent level at VT is on an upswing with last years class and this class so far - and, if I were a recruit waiting to make a decision, that would be a big factor in choosing which of my finalists would get to enjoy my talents.
That, development opportunities through coaching and playing time possibilities to showcase myself to NFL scouts.
Of course, other people might be more interested in proximity and academics, but I'm just talking about me. We'll see how things shake out for these final three.
I will say that, as a Hokie, I REALLY want a couple good LBs in the system, and Nnadi has been my favorite target all along.
As for our game against Syracuse, we have to find a way to at least be equal in rebounding without giving up the bad fouls on the offensive end of the floor for over the back calls.
We also will need at least one player to step up that can consistently take the ball to the basket to create the open looks on the outside, be it Emelogu or Eddie.
Last we have to be able to contain Tyler Ennis without giving up bad hand check fouls. If we can get him to turn the ball over a few times, we might be competitive although I anticipate another VCU/Michigan State type game. We will be competitive very early and then they will punch us in the mouth and we wont have an answer.
Not only is the name "Lindsey" English, but so is "Buckingham". You might have heard of an English palace with that name. So yes, he gets honorary Englishness. But I would point out that one of his bandmates, Mick Fleetwood, has thrown off his Englishness to become an American citizen.
I'm sure the allure of Bourbon Street is stronger than downtown El Paso. That and Journell is already off the team. So I think we are good on curfew.
