So much good material - and so very true!
In the end, however, the cost is worth it. Owning a SUV, as they are affectionately known, brings with it a feeling of security, superiority, and power. Like a hillbilly straight out of a monster truck rally, you feel in command of the road and capable of handling any obstacle in your path--whether it is a few feet of snow, a mud bog, or a line of thirty demolished cars. Sitting high above the Mercedes, Porsches, and BMWs of the world, you feel like the king of every highway and byway, mightier than the Commissioner of the DMV himself. When you drive by, heads turn to see the person cruising comfortably not only through town, but through life. Your sports utility vehicle becomes an extension of yourself; it makes up part of who you are as a Wahoo.
This just puts the icing on the cake (or the filling in the pie)
It's been almost two years that this team has not been in the MNC debate. That is far too long. Every year we should at least be talked about in the preseason and somewhere towards the end. Good programs don't have down years and must compete for the top prize constantly regardless of how it's 3/4 a beauty pageant.
/sarcasm
It's not expecting mediocrity, or sustained success, it's knowing how to temper your expectations. Last year was disappointing, this year is not. We're right where we should, a couple good wins and a couple head scratching loses with a backdoor to the ACCCG. Anyone who expected anything else seriously needs to look at this team unbiased. I sometimes wonder if people understand just how hard it is to win a MNC? Not only that but how practically meaningless they were since up until a decade ago there were sometimes 3 MNCS. You have to be in the top two of 120+ teams and most of that is a preconceived notion of how good you should be based off of years past or conference affiliation (see Michigan, Notre Dame)
Over the past two decades we've had a handful of average seasons and have competed for many conference championships. For the most part we've been a well coached, competitive team with a few disappointments, but they were recognized and attempts to fix them were put in place.
I think I may see a bit of causation here...
He looks unstoppable with a head of steam. Here he is rolling his way through a strong defensive front.

Ha! Once again, I would upvote this comment....I will when I have the legs...soon
But this completely takes away my "accuracy by volume" approach!
Umm.. is it just me or have I just seen 3 people post about being #s 3,4 and 5 on #TeamCookie? Hate to break it to you guys, but there still might only be 3 of you.
Playing another game is never a bad thing. Even if we lose by 100. Well except for my liver. My liver probably thinks its a bad thing.
We always have a chance against the number one team. Number 2-25 will crush us, but we have a shot against number one.
Five on #TeamCookie. First thing I do when I get home is grab a handful of cookies.
I dont really peg McKenzie as being someone that is concerned that there isnt room for him. But what do I know.
I think it might be a depth issue.
Im a Sparty basketball fan in my spare time and while I would love to see us stay with them and make it a game it aint going to happen. I would be stunned if they play flat three games in a row. Although I will say that Michigan State has struggled to establish a consistent post presence which makes them beatable if they arent hitting from outside. I would guess that after the last couple games though Izzo will force the ball to the post to work on that part of their game. Should be an interesting game either way.
just a thought: there is a fine line between over-metric-ing, but maybe we would be better served with a double system, maybe even with an icon instead of hyperlink:
turkey legs: appropriately those given to you, as in "here have a turkey leg on me."
turkey tracks: how many times you left your mark on the site.
I think the combination gives an accurate portrayal of your TKP habits. I get a feel being on here all the time how the current tracker is made up, but the data guy in me always wonders what lies beneath.
I hear we even have a Canadian guy on the team.
shotgun, pistol, whatever!
I will admit, I didn't think we were going to be able to keep up with VMI let alone beat them. If our team can get a little better on defense (stupid hand check rule) we might not be dead last in the ACC this year!
I'm not sure but she can be my long snapper any time.
I would rather take the shot against FSU and lose, then not take the shot. We have all seen how up and down the team is this year. We have gotten up for the big games, Bama and Miami. I would like to think that the team would rise to the occasion and teach the nation that Virginia Tech can NEVER be counted out.
Yep. He misses the '58 year where Bear went 5-4-1. Surprised Bama fans haven't erased this year from the record books and claimed a MNC from it.
Champagne- how ironic-
The real reason who? fans drink champagne?-the team gives it out before it expires!
The kid is good without a doubt I'm surprised Mike Farrell hasn't given him a 4th star by now with the numbers he's putting up. But when he gets here what does that do to our depth? Because if he gets here and balls out like that here there's no chance he can be benched. Which makes me believe we won't be getting McKenzie.
Yes, good job. You got it. We're all super proud of you.

"I absolutely cannot wait to see the Cavman entrance that the UVA audio/visual aid team put together for the Virginia Tech game" - said no Hokie ever.
