One way to put Logan Thomas into an analogy is to liken him to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, yet he is the same person.

No worries, French. I enjoy your film review along with Mason and it has helped me watch for the little details during the game. For example, I knew it was going to be a bad day for the defense based on how Boston College's offensive line would split the defensive line wide or suck them in. I wouldn't have noticed it without your film review.

Let me counter some of your points.

The offensive line held up very well all game long, even against some of BC's exotic blitz, but as French mentioned in his point above, Wang called out the wrong protection assignments, and the linemen had to scramble to adjust. By the time it was figured out, it was too late. As it was last season, the offensive line played better in pass protection, but so-so in run blocking. It's the same situation this season.

Logan made the unfortunate mental error of not taking the sack. Instead, he threw the ball, which was the worse thing he could do.

As for Ryan Williams, if you recall, Evans went down with a torn ACL in the preseason, pressing Ryan Williams into service earlier than expected, and he played lights out, breaking Evans' record which was later broken by David Wilson.

Your point on Tom O'Brien is halfway correct. O'Brien got impatient with Russel Wilson's wafting on whether to stick around or not, and finally forced Wilson's hand by naming Mike Glennon the starter, who by the way is playing well in the NFL, so that is not exactly accurate to say Wilson's departure was the sole reason for NC State's mediocrity. It played a role, no doubt, but got to remember that NC State's AD is Debbie Yow...the same woman who basically destroyed Maryland, hence why they are leaving for the B1G, and had a very frosty relationship with Gary Williams.

When Logan came back, it was clear from the get-go that Thomas was going to be Loeffler's pet project, nobody on this forums will deny that, but to say that Leal would not have a hand in 6-wins is farfetched. We have no evidence to back up that assumption because Leal was never going to be a starter, and it was Loeffler's mission, among others, to get Thomas' mechanics sorted out. I almost agree with others who feels that Thomas is being groomed to be a NFL quarterback, but Beamer is right in saying that right now, Thomas is Virginia Tech's best chance to lead the offense to victory.

Finally, I agree with you on the recruiting impact. It would send a message to future prospective recruits that the coaches caved in to fans' demands that Leal be put in place instead of Thomas, and someone like Andrew Ford will take that to heart.

y'all gave me the thread I was hoping for on that, thanks :)

He's low-profile because he doesn't attend the various camps.

Personally speaking, I'd offer him a scholie and let Dr. Ballein work out the details.

To be pedantic a little bit - that's two games.

And we're always going to rack up penalty yards if for no other reason than we can't seem to help ourselves from blocking in the back on returns. Every. Single. Time. That's not the official's fault. We do that to ourselves unfortunately.

I still say we've come out on top in more Ron Cherry games than we have on the bottom. And that's mostly because we've got an excellent record in the ACC overall, with all the official crews. The last time (prior to that Duke game) I felt like we were really getting jobbed by the officials was the 2009 Alabama game where they were allowing pass-rape (not just pass interference) on every play against our WRs. That's apparently how its done in the SEC.

LT never played TE in high school. He was PROJECTED by the recruiting services to be the #1 TE coming out of high school because of his desire not to have to play QB at the college level.

LT did play two years at QB in high school - his junior and senior years. He played WR as a soph in high school.

As far as his playing experience as a QB, he is now in his 7th year - 2 years in high school, and now in his 5th year in college. He was starting his third year at Tech, a R-Soph, when he first started at QB for Tech.

Indeed Kinison with an i. Thanks for the heads up too, several clips to choose from

I'm late entering this and haven't read the whole thread. But perhaps it's like learning new vocabulary; if words are not understood in context, then they can be misinterpreted. Go back and put each one of those eight (8) turnovers into its single play context, how can they then be viewed? Come back and report to us what you find. I think that would have been a better way to make your case. And I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, just used to the fact that numbers are not the whole story which you did somewhat state by mentioning everyone should be held accountable but did not support.

Unfortunately French, u don't get to decide what a good question posed is. And to be clear, ur work is greatly appreciated, but I'll consider this last post as #ShotsFired Frenchy.

Well the WR blocking is probably better than last year and I wouldn't have much faith in Cline in the running game either considering how little experience he has run blocking.

Quite possibly my favorite sentence ever posted here on TKP. My jaw dropped when I read that - it's so perfect.

marshall fans could argue we got some huge calls/non-calls.

In both games, Logan made critical errors at the end of the game. I'm not saying that Logan wouldn't have made those decisions if he didn't carry the ball as much, but I do think it's a possibility.

I'm not saying that Logan wouldn't have made those decisions either, but you can bet that every D Coordinator in the conference is thinking it's a possibility. That's why on every read option play somebody is assigned to hit Logan Thomas whether he keeps the ball or not.

When you having Thomas make a critical decision almost every play, whether by deciding who to throw to or whether to hand the ball off or keep it, you are increasing the odds that he'll make the wrong decision.

Money quote, right there. Yes. Hear, fucking hear.

haha, I'll take what I can get. I am a heartless Grinch after all.

Instead of calling for Loeffler to play Leal instead of Logan, why not call for Loeffler to play Logan like he would play Leal?

A Hall-of-Fame sentence.

That's where I screwed it up. Thanks guys!
