Offense: Edmunds is a stud. Receivers need to do 10000 pushups. Logan is an enigma.

Defense: I could not be more proud this group. Wow. So much talented youth.

Highlight of the night: Fuller laying the wood for his little bro. The world needs more Fullers.

Yep. I think this is the best litmus test we've ever seen for the Hokie team.

Our offensive line is meshing. Watch out.

Getting Stanford and Knowles out in the open next Saturday will help. However, if Coles is going to play scared, give the shirt up and give it to someone who wants it. We get it, you've been hurt. Not withstanding, we NEEDED you and you whiffed BIG time.

This is an ACC championship team again. No reason we can't win 10+

WR's get my vote. Special teams was fielding mostly second-stringers (against Bama, yikes!), so that's easy to fix.

Agree with everyone's assessment so far. Feeling optimistic despite the score line. But I'm not sure what I should be the most upset about. Special teams, receivers, or no horse on a treadmill. We need to have a serious talk with Weaver. #allmarooneverything #bringbackthehorse

I'm scratching my head watching Arron Murray and the receivers he has. These guys will catch anything thrown within 5 feet of them.

o agreed it wouldve been a completely different game

Remember the complete lack of experience from most of our WR's. If we're still having issues in two weeks, then start blaming Moorehead. From what I've seen and heard, he's a hell of a coach in terms of his attention to detail and intensity.

I agree, I think maybe we put so much pressure on our team to beat Bama. I could be wrong, but I did see somethings tonight that I'm very proud of. Our defense is going to be stout and I see a potential top 5 defense if we continue to play like that. We as a fanbase have got to back Logan he made some good throws but our receivers are just so young.

They remind me of when Jarrett and Coale were freshman, but i think we have to recruit better wideouts and other skill players.

That about sums it up. I'm not too worried about special teams. It can be fixed. WRs though were awful. I'm starting to question Morehead.

I'm pretty optimistic.

1) The game was closer than the score suggests. We won the yardage battle, 212 - 206. Tied in turnovers, although theirs was a pick six. Won the running game.

2) As others have mentioned, the offensive line didn't look like a train wreck. I'm not the best horse to evaluate it, but it looks like we've improved. I'd also suggest the game plan/play calling was more....enjoyable?

3) The defense is sick. With coverage like it looks like we can get (assuming the starting DBs are in the game), it'll give our very deep and talented defensive line time to get to quarterbacks all year long. I'm anxious to see this.

4) Our run defense is good. With the exception of Duke Johnson, Yeldon is the best RB we'll see all year and we did well against him (they're probably two of the best in the country, too).

5) Moorehead was given a bare cupboard when he was hired. But he has a whole lot of work to do. Knowles needs to sit. Stanford looked like he could get open, though. DJ Coles looked fearless on the first few plays, but appears to be a disaster overall. Joel Caleb might help. Didn't notice Charley Meyer at all.

6) Glad to see we're getting young'uns in the mix. Should help us down the line.

7) Jack Tyler, Trey Edmunds, #boththefullers

All in all, not too unexpected, except the special teams.

The defense mauled Bama. McCarron was 10-23. TJ Yeldon was held in check. If you told me the defense would give up 14 points I'd have been expecting VT to win and have shocked the world. But instead they give up 14 points on special teams and the offense looked completely inept. I expected a slightly better showing with all summer to prepare.

General takeaways:

-D is legit and belonged on the field with the best in the country.
-Our WR's are horrible. DJ looked like Roberts and Davis of last year. If this continues just put him on the bench. Knowles, I dont get it. Was last years catch against GT the exception to the rule? I had high hopes for him, but that has quickly changed.
-O-Line is much improved, somewhat shockingly.
-Edmunds stepped up. This kid may be the next great running back at VT.
-Logan is not as bad as the numbers show. A lot of his passes were catchable and his WR's are KILLING him.
-If we continue to recruit well, we will be very good. Our frosh and R-frosh are very good.
-Lets not hang our heads, this game was 4 plays (3 their way and 1 ours) from being 14-3 which is not an awful showing against the nations best.
-GO HOKIES!!!!

Takeaways from this game:

1. This defense is amazing.
2. Trey Edmunds is ridiculously good.
3. The O-line was good.
4. Logan was okay.
5. Recievers were awful.
6. Special teams were awful.

I think that we will have a pretty good year. Logan will get better and hopefully so will the special teams and receivers.

I'm sorry, but with the number of penalties on offense & speshul teams over the years it is blatantly obvious that CFB is NOT coaching the basics or stressing/emphasizing the fundamentals of the actual game.

Well, everyone expected us to lose and we lived up to that expectation. Here's my takeaway:

1. Our defense is insanely good. We completely stifled one of the best teams in the country.
2. Logan's mechanics are vastly improved, as is his decision-making.
3. Our O-line was surprisingly good.
4. Trey Edmunds is going to be ridiculous.
5. Our receivers are completely unacceptable. Most may not survive the next practice.
6. Our special teams had major letdowns that need to be fixed immediately.

No I didn't participate in the bet. Mangus is getting some good runs in.

So, anybody purchase their crimson turd apparel yet?

I honestly can't believe these are d1 caliber receivers, heck we should consider both fuller brothers to play both ways.
