In general it is a bad idea. I can't keep up with all the changes in NCAA rules, but it used to be pretty close to a violation because there was a vague description of who represented a school and how it could be considered improper contact or something. Some people just think they can recruit a player better than their coaches can. The worst is when those same people trash talk the kid for picking another school.

Lol... I thought fans contacting recruits in general, was a bad idea...I would hate to be they guy who tweets a player only to have him respond with "was planning on VT but..."

Awesome graphic. I always think of it as 3rd and Logan but the Miami win was actually a fourth down. Fourth & Dozer?

there was also a blocked field goal returned for a TD.

The 2 ints for a TD were Adibi and Ellis.

Also probably the only game where "orange effect" actually worked

When beamer went after punters it was scary because they were so successful. Sure if he hadn't dropped them it would have been lower scoring...but if he wasn't scared and shaking because tech had already gotten to him probably 4-5 times that game and barely missed, he wouldn't have dropped them either.

If that game actually happens I don't think there will be too much of an issue selling tickets this year. That would be a sweet matchup, even for non-fans to watch.

Well put. I love watching teams use their TEs well, especially in the red zone. Every year i wish we incorporated them more.

The best 25 seconds of Beamball at the end of the first half of the 93' Indy Bowl. After a fumble is returned for a score, Heather D's Hoosiers get into field goal range and call a timeout with a second left in the half. We block it and run it back for a score. It was still okay to spike the ball back then.

At first I was like, "Hey", but then I remembered I live in DC so wasn't included in that.

However, considering that NOVA is part of the VT life cycle, it shouldn't be the case.

Life cycle is defined as such. Roughly 60-75% of students are from NOVA. They venture to Blacksburg, graduate, move to Arlington. As they get older, they creep to Alexandria and Fairfax. When they have kids, they creep a little further from DC. THen as their kids graduate HS, they start the cycle all over again.

thanks everyone! glad you like it. New one posting in few minutes in new thread

Correction. BeamerBall = Winning more with less by having a blue collar work ethic and highly aggressive, risk taking defensive play balanced with hard nosed power running offense.

Most people associate special teams play as Beamerball but that was only because we blocked more kicks than other teams. Beamerball was an ATTITUDE. A defense that flew around on the edge of recklessness with hard nose kids with chips on their shoulders to beat the bigger guy. (eg. Cornell Brown v Texas, Sugar Bowl '95)

We get that back, even we don't block kicks like we used to, we will win more games and win big games.
