Beer of the Weekend: Yuengling and PBRs

I will also be going hard at a bottle of Maker's Mark.

1.) Pitt (I think Wanny will get it done).
2.) UConn (in fact, I'm also taking Washington to beat BYU... Huskes x 2).
3.) TCU (load the box on Rodgers).
4.) LSU (I think UNC will have too many reserves in the game).
5.) Navy (wish the Hokies could play the Middies, but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon).
6.) Virignia Tech (a close game over the Broncos, 17-13).

Hate me and the new uniform, but I think it's pretty badass now that I've seen all. Let the season begin!

I think the big difference in those is the textured look. The Gator one kind of gives them scales. Honestly I think Tech's are the only ones that are really super different, WVU is close with the coal dust look, but not quite as ridiculously different. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of massive amounts of orange on Tech's stuff anyway, a little bit goes a long way. On the other hand, the maroon strips on the front of the helmet look pretty sharp.

1 - Pitt - Revenge of the BCS bowl from a years ago
2 - UConn - Worth watching if Robinson or Gardner get the majority of the snaps
3 - Oregon State - I hate non-BCS teams due to ESPN
4 - LSU - in a closer game than most think
5 - Navy - by 4+ TD
6 - VT - by 3+ TDs

And this is why I stay away from Vegas

Beer of the Weekend:
Natty Light (x30)

I totally agree! However, the band has had a number of cheers banned by Jim Weaver as some old grandmother wrote in to complain once....Remember its all about respecting the opponent...even as we drive them into the ground!

Can VT opt out of the "honor" next year. Last year wasn't bad, but this year is horrible! Well better than Miami "look at me I'm an orange"

By the way...what changed on Florida and Bama's uniforms? They look quite similar to their normal jersey...

...make everyone love them, or at least tolerate them, I do believe.

Welcome Sir

Well I just read they are going to wear these pro combats in the Boise State game...not liking this idea

so my picks, my problem in March with my brackets? I pick the underdog WAY to often. So my picks this season will probably reflect that
Game 1 - Pitt. Pitt has a great running back, one that rivals even RMFW stats wise. I don't see Utah finding a way to slow him down
Game 2 - UCCON. I liked the Huskies last year and picked them over South Carolina(which won me some $$$$, never pick against a team when a player has been lost that year) so I am picking them again. With that Michigan has not impressed me for years now. Add to that I have that postcouchburninghillbillylovingmantheycallacoach
Game 3 - TCU, I know they lost their 2 best defensive players, but Oregon state is just that bad (they lost to the Mormons..... in SIN CITY, really? really?)
Game 4- probably the hardest pick for me. Before their bowl game lose last year I would have picked LSU. Before the NCAA investigations it would have been UNC, now it is a toss up. So I guess I am going with LSU since they may have an offense (were as UNC does not have one)
Game 5- I am a Submariner come on easy choice
Game 6 - Lets go!!!.... Even though I am nervous as hell about the game, I am still going to pick our boys. I was nervous about Tenn and Miami last year too and look how those turned out. (I was also confident about GT and UNC)

My beer of choice this week? Bold City Brewery fire 1901 red ale

I will let beer advocate say it for me here

I will also watch Mike London's old team beat his new team and start a new year off crying at UVAG and whats up with San Jose State having the toughest OOC this year?

utah
michigan
oregon state
lsu
navy
vt

GO HOKIES!

Say what you want but these are awesome. Just win on Monday night and everyone can jump onboard later.

Go Hokies!

Utah
Uconn - Rodriguez thinks quarterbacks Denard Robinson, Tate Forcier and Devin Gardner can all play. What's the old adage, if you have two quarterbacks you don't have one? I think Uconn controls the ball and gets it done.
Oregon State
LSU
Maryland
Virginia Tech - I'm so confident that we win this game I'm not going to waste anyone's time trying to reverse jinx us.

The Michigan picture is epic, great read EBJ.

Just registered w/ the site boys. Get ready.

my picks (to cover)

Utah
Michigan
Oregon State
LSU
Navy
VT

Thanks TKP, I feel now very cultured sitting at my desk and sipping on some '98 L'Arco Veneto Rosso. I figured it would help me understand the questions raised by Brendan.

1. I am excited for our new offensive coordinator. Wait, I need to pocket that quote for a few weeks or months or years. I am excited to see what new uniform we will one day unveil. This uniform was designed by some 17 year old computer wiz whose hobbies include riding Magic Mountain in Disney World on acid and collecting stamps, coins and porn.

2. The Fridge. While my grandfather was alive we went to a pizza place near Maryland every time I visited. I saw the Fridge there multiple times. I just found out that pizza place, the original Ledo's that you DC metro residents may have heard of, is now closed. No Pizza, No Fridge.

3. Well I love having a big game like Boise St. That being said, we also can look forward to two directional teams and a Div. II team. Not the most exciting lineup but we are lucky b/c the in conference should be credible, unlike previous years. Did you hear Miami is back by the way? You heard it hear first!

4. Does Patrick Pinkney have his 12th year of eligibility? If not then Hokie_Wolf got it right, Nesbitt. Also Kellen Moore and Jacory Harris, remember, Miami is back.

5. JMU. Hopefully it won't be because we are looking to rebound from a lost the previous week.

6. I am just not familiar enough with the ACC but I think basketball (Coach K) has a big say, or at least will with the next expansion. BC has not been a great addition, so they will either keep looking at us yankees or BC goes and we expand in the south. Florida Atlantic, South Florida, ECU, George Mason. The pickings are slim so expansion will be tough. I agree on WVU. I almost got in a fight with a WVU grad back when I lived in Pittsburgh when we went to the ACC. I would love to rub it into WVU being snubbed or blown up or playing in some European D-League. That being said, if WVU can make the ACC money, we may be "partners" with them again. I just threw up, pardon me.

7. Joe nailed this one.

1. how bud is going to generate a pass rush
2. lame terp waddling
3. semi excited
4. robert quinn, if playing he is unblockable by our OL
5. wake, i think they are going to suck.
6. UConn and .. and ... crap. i don't want a private school (league doesn't need another) and RUTSgers will hold out. eff wvu ... so Pitt, even if they are private.
7. same

when the BE went to expand in all sports in 93 or 94, both of us were looking to get in (only fb members of the BE.) the 2 schools had a hand shake deal to only go if the other is invited.

push comes to shove, BE invites the neers and of course they had to accept. hand shake be damned.

so when those aholes got mad that tech said they were staying but left for the acc ... to hell with them. let them burn like their couches.

I would never, ever want the ACC to extend an invitation to the Mountaineers. It's not about academics, and they do field competitive and talented football and men's hoops teams. I just don't want to give them a helping hand, now, or ever. They won't get a Big Ten invite, and they have a slim shot of the SEC being interested in them. So I say let them hang by a thread.

I think if we go 10-2 and beat Boise State, but don't win the ACC we stand a very high chance of getting a at-large berth.
