Stud.....but may be the worst of the three commits this weekend
This is some twisted logic to me.
The NCAA, and most Pro Sports organizations are also deeply intertwined with a multitude of alcohol producers.
Does this mean that if an athlete decides to pound seven Modelos after a bad game and get behind the wheel of a Hyundai that they shouldn't bear any personal responsibility because the NCAA takes money from both of these companies??
At what point does personal responsibility enter the equation anywhere here?
It's like NIL has turned off any thought that college athletes should do anything but show up and get paid regardless of the circumstances.
When the opposite should be true, when you're playing to get paid, the expectations and burden of responsibility should go up, not disappear.
The guy gambled repeatedly on his own team. And then all of a sudden when he got caught, he got contrite and hid behind the "medical condition" rationale
100% Lifetime ban. There's no other argument that makes sense.
And if anyone truly cares about the effects of gambling app availability to young men (which is a huge, largely ignored problem), then not punishing this guy only subverts any effort to demonstrate for them the gambling can completely wreck your life.
former enthusiast. nothing close to professional.
if he's starting out and is new to grinding and tricks in general normally I would go for longer steel pegs, maybe start at 3.5 inches and a smaller diameter. durability and control. I liked smaller diameter pegs because you wouldn't drag as much but often larger diameter is better for new riders if they are bashing pegs for a while.
once he gets the hang of it could go for a shorter 2.5 inch and try different diameter sizes. when he's confident move to plastic which is move consistent but have different cores that provide feel and durability variations.
I would stay away from aluminum until he's confident with bag of tricks and not shredding pegs like crazy.
I'm thinking more 7. Waaaay too much travel and first year stuff. Good transfers but gotta get everybody from Frosh to reamaning guys and transfers all on the same page.
I don't know but they better be some good ones if he wants to have any chance to beat Bart Conner on Hell Track.

I am hoping for somewhere between 7-5 and 9-3. Nine and three would require everything gelling far quicker than anticipated.
All this stuff is well in the rear view, but it kind of depends on what type of riding he is looking to do. People like different pegs for park v. street, vert v. flat, etc...
I'd maybe check like Haro Bikes or something. They used to have pretty good stuff. I'd guess they have some manner of good general purpose peg to get a feel for them.
5 SEC vs WVU, UNC and Troy
Interesting that 3 of 8 Super Regionals were won by a non-Regional host.
First Round of MCWS games
No. 16 West Virginia vs. Troy
Ole Miss vs. No. 4 North Carolina
No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 6 Texas

Let alone...
at least 9,000 bets totaling at least $90,000.
per Dan Wetzel article, including two bets against his own team that Sorsby testified he didnt recall making.

Texas Tech is paying his lawyers is my understanding so they are doing the exact opposite. They are just as much an issue in this situation.
Yeah, that's my thought. Not this year. Maybe next year or the year after that.
You could probably talk me into a game in Munich in late September/early October...

If we have an above average season, I could see Franklin pulling a 5-star flip on signing day.
The article I read made it clear this ruling is only applicable to the NCAA suspension and insinuated that criminal charges may still be pending.
Also noted that the NCAA regs here are clearly black and white - there's no gray area for interpretation. Lifetime ban for betting on your own team, period.
Yeah pretty bullshit that the team was on the verge of getting back into it and had the plug pulled on their season
They also had a camp this weekend. Probably what you are looking at. We are only hosting 50ish this year
Not sure if C. Whitehead counts, but if he does, there is at least rumors that he canceled UGA because VT visit was good. No idea if it's true, but Google's AI is suggesting it is true (likely picking it up off message boards).
Gemini search and response:
did Chris Whitehead visit UGA on an official visit? If not, why?
No, Chris Whitehead did not take an official visit to the University of Georgia (UGA). He explicitly canceled his scheduled official visit.
Why the Visit Was Canceled
- A Shift to the In-State School: Whitehead canceled the Athens trip largely because momentum shifted heavily toward Virginia Tech. He took an official visit to Blacksburg, Virginia, right before his scheduled UGA trip.
- Prior Connection to the Hokies' Staff: Virginia Tech's coaching staff, led by James Franklin and defensive line coach Sean Spencer, has deep-rooted relationships with Whitehead that date back to their previous coaching tenures.
- Hometown Priority: Analysts from 247Sports report that the Hokies have built immense optimism to pull in the Chesterfield, Virginia native, causing other out-of-state trips to fall by the wayside.
His 247 composite is 5-star but none of the individual sites rate him as a 5-star. Not sure how that happens but here is a quick summary:
- ESPN: 4 stars - 84 rating (47th ranked)
- Rivals/On3: 4 stars - 94 rating (48th ranked)
- 247: 4 stars - 94 rating (38th ranked)
- Rivals composite: 4 stars - 94.63 (46th ranked)
- 247 composite: 5 stars - .9847 (34th ranked)
Interestingly, Rivals and 247 say they compute their composite the same (e.g., 33% for each major ranking site), but the results are not the same.

how is this really happening haha
Yeah it's absolutely FAFO -- but it's also objectively wrong and obviously and seriously fundamentally broken when you have this outcome.
JMFF is definitely smokin'!

"probable, imminent and irreparable injury" if he's unable to play for the Red Raiders
Ah yes, I believe the word the judge is looking for here is "consequences." Used in a sentence like: "The decision of the player to break the rules resulted in consequences."
Article on ChopChat about how VT is the new model for FSU to follow. Who would have imagined that just a year ago?
There's also an article about us big-dogging them for Wade, hahahaha!
Kalshi should set prop bets on the appeal outcome and whether Sorsby will be eligible? Let Sorsby gamble on these prop bets. And let's also have the appellate judge place a bet.
This is an incredible idea.

But if he pounded 7 Modelos before the game, would that be considered point shaving?
But seriously, I agree with your take. The rule is clear and he chose to violate it. Now he wants to avoid consequences. If good still prevails in this world, the NCAA should win on appeal.
