Definitely agree. I thought our ceiling would be sniffing Top 15 during the cycle and finishing 18-20.
Ranking 6th isn't real due to early commits, but I still would have bet money we'd never hit that mark. Plus it's good for hype/perception for the little while it lasts.
Also the early commits may skew things a bit, but there is still something to be said about convincing this many guys to commit early. Means he is selling something well. I don't remember Fuente ever loading up on guys early in the cycle. In fact in later years it felt like the opposite - load up on lower rated guys later in the cycle when we realize we need bodies because we missed out on too many top targets
Keep in mind that we also picked up a ton of young OL (11 Fr or rFr in 2026) and currently have 21 on the roster for 2026, 18 of which will be returning in 2027 (assuming no transfers)

Hey, quick question. When you say OT: 4, is that, literally offensive tackle or is that meant to be offensive linemen overall? Seeing so many WR and QBs but so few OL (and maybe no guards or centers) is really skewed. Would think no more than 2 of those QBs will stay around and see extended time playing for VT and many of those WR will not stick around or pan out.
Is great for depth as you know not everyone will develop. But would love to see more OL relative to WR or QB where you are playing 5 OL vs. 2 or 3 WR vs. 1 QB.
Also, it's well-documented on here that it is hard to grade linemen, so maybe I should not be worried by this. But still, seems really skewed.

Is this a good time to confess I was worried that recruiting would fall off for the next year after we were done flipping the PSU recruits? I just couldn't see blue chip recruits wanting to come to Blacksburg anymore after Fuente and Pry struggled for so long. Franklin forgive me lol.

So looking at the last 3 classes, counting transfers, we've added Composite 4*s in the following positions:
QB: 4
RB: 3
WR: 9
TE: 4
OT: 4
DL: 5
LB: 3
DB: 7
That's 39 x 4* recruits in 3 classes.
Is this real life?
