Last night, Cadarian Raines Tweeted that he'll "miss my bro" Tyrone Garland. Seth Greenberg had been giving minutes freshman Marquis Rankin over Garland.
According to Mark Giannotto's sources Garland is at home and plans to transfer.
Virginia Tech sophomore guard Tyrone Garland plans to transfer at the end of the semester, according to two sources familiar with the situation who asked for anonymity because Garland has not received his official release yet.
One source said Garland, a Philadelphia native, has already returned home after finishing exams and won’t be on the bench when the Hokies take on Campbell Saturday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum.
When asked Thursday whether Garland was going to remain with the team this season, Coach Seth Greenberg declined to comment specifically about the situation. Garland would be the third men’s basketball player to transfer from Virginia Tech in the past year. Last December Ben Boggs transferred to Valporaiso and this past offseason forward Manny Atkins decided to transfer to Georgia Southern.
