The plan was for Tyler Weiss to attempt the short (read: most of the) field goals, and for Justin Myer to kick the long ones. It was the same plan the Hokies used against Duke while Journell was injured. Myer will handle #ALLOFTHEKICKINGDUTIES which apparently includes going hard like a boss. Myer has a big leg, but has accuracy issues.

If I was a second string kicker (or any position really) that was handed a golden opportunity to become a starter thanks to CJ's punk ass mistake I would literally spluge all over myself.
This kind of shit pisses me off beyond belief. YOU CAN BE A STARTER ON A D1 FOOTBALL TEAM IN A GOTDAMN BCS BOWL IN NEW ORLEANS!!! Stop fucking around and make something out of the opportunity you have been presented with.
If we lose this game due to a missed 27 yard FG.... a 30 hour bus ride or a few nights in jail wont be shit. I will find you !!!
Hopefully this serves as an early example to all the other guys. Hopefully David Wilson will put the entire team on lock down for the rest of the week. I just feel like nothing positive can come from a college football team being in New Orleans on New Years eve.
Praying for no more fuck ups...

I know a lot of people are
I know a lot of people are angry at Weiss and Journell, but you have to remember they're just kids. To keep things in perspective Weiss broke a team rule, Journell broke the law. I did a lot of dumb shit in college, and at 21-years-old I think there's a very good chance I'd get caught up in everything the NOLA nightlife has to offer.
Like you said Weiss blew a huge opportunity. He's a redshirt senior, he let his teammates, his family, fans, etc down. He'll watch his final game. At the end of the day he's feeling worse than you or I.
Even if the game is decided by a made/missed field goal, we'll win or lose as a team.
Team Effort
Team Effort
I completely agree that it is a team effort. If we can only get the ball to the 25 yard line and our kicker has to attempt 15 field goals in the game then it is not the place kickers fault if we fail. The team has to be good enough to get in the end zone in order for us to beat Michigan.
But at the end of the day, the Staff made it very clear that curfew is something not to mess with. I just think about the LSU-Bama game earlier this season. Special teams kicking blew that game completely for Bama. I would just hate for that to happen to us due to a lack of discipline from our kickers for god sake. We need to win big games and stuff like this doesn't help. They may be kids, but as a Representative of the University and even the State you have to be able to step up and force yourself to be the bigger man for a few nights. (Hopefully Weiss has a damn good story for missing curfew... I'd hope it was something interesting and he is riding that greyhound saying.. damn.. it was almost worth it! what a night!)
We just don't need any more bad press. It is hard defending VT on a daily basis to all the UVA trolls at my office.
GO HOKIES!
