Trey Edmunds has been named the Single A Offensive Player of the Year by VirginiaPreps.com

Edmunds put up tremendous numbers this season, rushing for 2,596 yards on 283 carries, scoring 34 touchdowns.

Coach Ferrell Edmunds said of his star running back / linebacker "One important note that I have been wanting to say all season, many people do not know this but Trey is only 16 years old. He is actually suppose to be in the 11th grade. He was moved up a grade in the first grade. So you see, this is why I am so proud of him, because he is so focused.

Edmunds added: Trey is one of the most unselfish players I have ever coached. In one of our most important games of the season, our first ever second play-off game, the coaches wanted to run our second team running back mostly in effort to throw the defense off. We knew Trey would be an excellent lead blocker for him. As a result, Trey did not receive any carries, I believe, until the last few minuets in the second quarter. The offensive coach kept telling him, "Don't worry Trey we are going to get you the ball soon", Trey's reply was, "Its okay coach, I just want to win!", mind you he was in the mist of setting the school record for most running yards ever in the schools history. That record was the furthest from his mind at that time. Needless to say he did end up getting his carries and rushed for almost 300 yards. He also achieved setting the record not only in rushing yards but scoring, the most touchdowns as well.

"Trey has character, integrity and displays an overall positive attitude. He also maintains a 3.4 grade point average while taking advanced classes. He is a member of the junior usher board at church, sings in the choir and is a member of the church step team."
