OT: Chris Peterson to Washington?

According to Bruce Feldman, he's interviewing tonight.

I think Peterson is an upgrade over Sark.

Just a bunch of BS. He "interviewed" for USC job, and didn't take it be cause of mutual interest. Why would he take this job?

Expansion pushed Boise State aside, Washington is a well paying job in a major conference, that has a loaded roster.

Wow.. Guess I was wrong! Totally didn't expect to see this news!!!

For a second I thought this meant the Washington Redskins and I really didn't know how or what to feel

This is a good idea for him.

Agree, time for him to cash in on his sucess before it fades from memory. You either leave and get more money or pressure your school to step up and give you a nice contract increase to stay home. You can't win if you don't play.

Joe Schad is reporting the same thing this morning.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Washington wins this years Coaches Roulette. They will pass Oregon in the NW in the next few years. Just feels like Oregon's going to take a dip with Heiflich (sp?).

Agreed - if you can't keep your team motivated for the Rose Bowl, you've got some problems...

It was a catch

Shoot, I think Oregon State could pass Oregon in the next few years.

We know what Mike Riley is. His teams have never been higher than what they are right now. He's the Tom Obrien of the west.

This would be really interesting...if it wasn't in Washington where I really just couldn't care.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Man, I guess Sarkisian going to USC was the best thing to happen to Washington.

Yea not often you lose the head coach and end up upgrading this much at the head coach position. Great hire by Washington.

UVA: Jefferson's biggest mistake

@pbowman6

So does this mean Boise hires Mike London?

Rick Monday... You Made a Great Play...

I also root for: The Keydets, Army, TexAggies, NY Giants, NY Rangers, ATL Braves, and SA Brahmas

And then UVA can hire their dream coach Lane Kiffin.

That would be like Christmas and my birthday all wrapped up in one.

We put the K in Kwality

Please no Lane Kiffin at UVA...I feel dirty enough living in Charlottesville already. I'd hate to have to leave the state.

Same colors. Why not?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

I think Peterson took Boise State as far as they could go. He did an incredible job at BSU, starting from the '07 Fiesta Bowl until now...with them going 8-4 this year, I think this is the best time for him to leave.

Sure is nice to have long term stability of a coaching staff. Hopefully, VT can continue that trend beyond Beamer.

Stop it with the Negative Waves!

He's a good coach and I respect the guy, but Jared Zabransky and Kellen Moore were Chris Petersen's meal tickets in Boise.

Will he find the same thing at UW?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

I think you have that backwards. Moore and Zabransky were killer in college for a reason. Great coaching that designed a team for their skills. Without Peterson would either of them gotten a whiff of NFL? I would say 50/50 on Moore and a no way on Zabransky.

On the other hand, Petersen's worst years at Boise -- relatively speaking -- were 2007 (Taylor Tharp was QB, Zabransky was gone and Moore hadn't arrived) and the last two (Moore has been gone). So maybe it's a little bit of both.

Plus, Zabransky already had an All-American honorable mention under his belt before Petersen arrived.

You forget that he was OC of Boise before become HC, after Hawkins left. Zabransky was taught everything he knew by Peterson.

Moore, Zabransky, Dinwiddie had lightning strapped to their arms no doubt. But a lot of it was great coaching. He built a playbook and team that was a precision, high scoring machine that could operate with any QB that had the book smarts and to hit the ball on the money. that's how he could use all the overlooked, undersized players so well. This down year would have just been a reloading year if they had gotten into the PAC-12, which should have happened over Utah. But Regional TV rights...blah, blah...

Anyway, Peterson is a very, very good coach that can win with 2 and 3 star players.

Quiet you two - Mark Leal for Washington coach would have been the correct answer.

You're also ignoring that Zabransky had a pretty poor season in 2005 (18 TDs, 16 INTs) and was occasionally benched in favor of Tharpe. Peterson took over as head coach and Zabransky had the best season of his career (23 TDs, 7 INTs). Seems to me there's a good chance that Peterson played some role in those improvements, rather than Zabransky turning it all around himself.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

I still can't believe I just read that Jared Zabransky was a coach's meal ticket. I'll take "Sentences you never thought you'd hear in your life" for $1000, Alex.

Seriously though.

It's been a long year.

Washington just got a better HC because their old one went to USC, go figure. I know Washington has improved and play in a good conference but I'm actually surprised he didn't go to a bigger name school

I'll be shocked if Washington doesn't improve drastically under Chris Peterson. In my mind, one of the best coaches in the country. If he can find a way to recruit there, he's going to do great things.

Shouldn't it be easier than recruiting for Boise? Peterson has already had a pretty tough recruiting road at Boise, and even with the lower level of talent he was able to attract to Boise, he was able to win. Given that he is already in his recruiting territory, not much should change except the resources at his disposal, which are definitely improved. I'm thinking he'll take a year or two to build up his guys and be off and running. I'd love to see him pick up Orgeron as DC, though...

Well, that's interesting.

it's just amazing to me to think of all the opportunities he had or could have had, and ends up at Washington.

At the time his program was going undefeated. Now the novelty has worn off and the recruits just might not be going there. I mean there isn't much out there unless you're a potato fanatic. Them getting screwed in conference realignment didn't help either. Maybe he just realized that Boise has a glass ceiling now and is having a mid-life crisis about a crystal football.

Or maybe he just like temperate rain forests.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Sark was a good recruiter. He has plenty to work with. Will he be able to recruit though?
