So the YES network is going to televise up to 10 ACC FB Games

My initial reaction is #goacc. Clearly we're going after that same invisible football fan market that Rutgers is pulling in for the Big Teourteen. Also not really excited about potentially having some of our games televised on a network that I almost certainly don't have on my cable tier. Definitely not interested in throwing any more money Time Warner's way, especially to benefit an MLB outlet. No details on what the pecking order for games is, but I can't see YES paying for nooners and ESPN3 fodder either. Maybe they'll carry all the Syracuse games since that's "huge" in NYC.

YES Network to televise ACC basketball and football games and Big East basketball games

For what it's worth (and the answer may well be 'not much'), I live in NYC along with a great many other Hokies. NYC isn't just for 'Syracuse' or 'Rutgers'... Graduates of many, many big state schools end up landing here. Very many of the schools, including many of the ACC schools, have alumni association ties with certain bars for game-watches (ours is the Village PourHouse on 3rd Ave and 11th St in the East Village - stop by to see us if you're in town!) that tons of people show up to. The long and short of it is: There are millions of TV's in NYC, and lots of them would be interested in tuning in to CFB.

If this helps increase the payout to the ACC schools (through more TV money, somehow, someway... leave that to the business/finance/marketing grads to figure out), all the better... Will be hard to keep up with the $EC and B1G no matter how you slice it.

It's revenue and exposure for the conference. I'm all for it. Not a fan of YES! But...since our recruiting success has been moving more toward the NE...I would guess this can only help us.

We put the K in Kwality

I was at the Village Pourhouse for the Ryan Williams "Drag-on" NC State Game, then hit up a Rangers game at the Garden afterwards. Good day.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Also, it is somewhat ironic that VT got better national TV exposure when they were in the Big East (CBS) than now in the ACC.

As long as it doesn't preclude me from watching in good 'ol central VA, more power to 'em!

Thanks for the replies guys. Solid points all around, especially in so far as raising our profile in the Northeast from a recruiting standpoint, and if it gets us more money on our media deal then that's great. I'm a more than a little worried that we're starting to see the disparity in conference paydays already so anything to close the gap is a benefit.

My initial #goacc thought was that it would be nice to be making our own network to cash in on all those eyeballs in NYC, even if only a fraction of them actually watch CFB. That arrangement is making the Big-14 $TEXAS bucks now. Upon closer review this is more of an action on the part of FOX Sports peddling their interest in the ACC games down to one of their subordinate networks. Increasing access is great.

But still, the thought of giving money to the Yankees in any form makes my skin crawl.
