Better late than never, eh?
Good news: I have a new job!
Bad news: that means I don't have the time to make these long GIFcap posts anymore. I'll try and add to it throughout the week, but for now, a top GIFs of the week will have to do.
Your standings:
.
I found out tonight that every team in our league has a counterpart who plays the same four teams over the last four weeks. My mind is blown.
Heres the playoff situation:
SITTING PRETTY:
Hernandez's Legal D (7-3)
Charles is a little vulnerable right now, with Tony Romo on bye and Arian Foster now officially gone for the year, but he already distanced himself a bit from many of the other members of the pack in scoring (3rd overall) and in the standings in general. They do have a favorable schedule coming up, as they play the #'s 8, 9 and 11 scoring teams in the league still, but a week 12 matchup vs JONESing for Austin should be quite interesting.
ANUSTART (7-3)
ANUSTART has made things interesting with two straight losses, but still stands in good position thanks to the likes of Drew Brees, Wes Welker, Reggie Bush and DONALD FUCKING BROWN on the roster. Seriously, this girl had the cojones (figuratively, of course) to start Brown over Trent Richardson, AND HE HAD 21.4 POINTS. I know this is the week 10 recap and not week 11 yet, but BAHHHHHHH I ALREADY DIDN'T GET TO GO TO BLACKSBURG FOR THE GAME THIS WEEKEND AND NOW YOU'RE ATTACKING ME WITH DONALD BROWN? talk about kicking a guy when he's down.
ANUSTART looks good, but still needs to win a few more games, preferably sooner rather than depending on a win in the last game of the year, as she is set to face off against the #3 (but #1 in scoring) Treadmill Horses.
SETH GREENBERG PRESENTS: "ON THE BUBBLE":
Treadmill Horses (6-4)
After starting the year 6-1, the Treadmill Horses have lost three in a row at a bad time of the year to slump. The curse of the late byes is hurting him a bit, as Jamaal Charles and Jordan Cameron missed last week and Dez Bryant will be gone this week. Mike plays #'s 2, 5, 6 and 7 still, so he won't be able to cakewalk into the playoffs (although at least they avoid the #'s 1 and 4 teams). Still, I like his chances since he's leading the league in scoring and is currently in rather than on the outside looking in.
JONESing for Austin (6-4)
If losing three in a row is a bad thing at this time of the year, what's it worth to win 3 in a row? Cody needs to keep getting consistency out of Adrian Peterson and Demaryius Thomas and I hope that he rides a streak of four straight 60 point games by RGIII to reach the playoffs. Because RGIII scoring 60 points in 4 straight weeks might be enough for the Redskins to win some games.
Centaurrian Gray (6-4) : While I've won 3 in a row, I face 4 of the league's top 6 scorers over the last four weeks. I'm not likely to beat anyone in a tiebreak scenario, so I'll just have to keep winning to stay alive. It certainly doesn't help that Donald Brown scored 21.4 for ANUSTART already this week.
Denver's Nuggets (5-5) : They play the same four teams that I do, but do so already a game in the hole behind the three 6-4 teams that are jostling for spots 3-5. The Nugz will have to remember to pick up a TE and DEF this week to stay in it, though, as they play a surging #OperationImpatience squad who is 3-1 after starting the season 1-5.
AH-AH-AH-AH STAYIN ALIVE:
fry-fry chicky-chick (4-6)
This is the only team in the league to lose a million times despite scoring a million points in each of those games. She could have been out of it at 2-6, but strung together 2 straight W's and now has four remaining tough but winnable games. Danibails is fourth in the league in scoring, so watch out any team that could end up in a tiebreaker situation with her; you may not win the tiebreak, and then she may taunt you and make you cry or something.
#OperationImpatience (4-6)
If Case Keenum is good enough to lead the Texans on their historical comeback from 2-7 to 9-7, then he's good enough to lead #OperationImpatience from 1-5 to 8-6. Or something like that. There's a bunch of starting talent in his backfield (Gore, Brown, MJD and Stacy) and at WR (Antonio Brown and Megatron), but he'll need it, with Beau, Danibails, Belle and I to end the year.
OrangeBarrelReroute (4-6)
I'm not going to rule out a team that has Peyton Manning, Alfred Morris and Gronk in the starting lineup, but it's hard to look past Joique Bell, Brian Hartline and Michael Floyd in the lineup. If his big three can carry his team, Scobeard will be alright (full disclosure - I typed "Scobread" the first time), but there's not a whole lot of margin for error. Fortunately for him, he faces the #'s 9, 11 and 12 scoring teams in three of the last four weeks. He'll need wins in all three of those games, and probably against Hernandez's Legal D as well.
LIVIN' ON A PRAYER:
Imagine Wagons (4-6)
EverydayI'mRussellin (4-6)
Money Badger (3-7)
There's still a prayer of a chance for all of these teams, as none have incredibly difficult schedules, but I just don't see a 7-7 team making the playoffs in this league, so there is basically no margin for error here. Since the Imagine Wagons and EverydayI'mRussellin face off against both ANUSTART and Treadmill Horses, they probably won't be perfect.
If I had to guess today, Id say the playoffs will look like this. I know it's not original to be projecting the 1-4 teams to make the playoffs, but I think they probably will. But go Centaurrian Gray anyways!
