I am all for that being brought back- how bout you?
although I can see two issues with it...
1) The HOKIEbird might get jealous (or excited)
2) WVU fans might try to shoot it.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I can dig it; but would it not be a bit cruel-and-unusual to have a live turkey on the field and the smoke from dozens of cooking turkey legs wafting down to the field?
away games only?
Done. And Bud already takes a bit of every field for the lunch pail (even the Carrier Dome..classic!). Might as well let the bird drop a few Hokie stones on the opponent's field
Turkey leg for usage of "Hokie stone"
I'd be all for it - it'd have to be a wild turkey, not the white ones. We'd have to get a female turkey as well to keep around, so the male turkey would strut with full feathers.
I've been keeping the tradition alive by bringing wild turkey to every game since 2000
Times have changed. Now UVA has a live turkey on their sidelines - their head coach.

Not true... Turkeys cant be cops and he was a cop - did you know that? I did... and I feel great knowing that he was a cop once...
jive turkey?
Every time I think about Mike London and his copness, I wonder if he ever pulled someone over and started to write them a ticket...
And then mismanaged the clock and fucked himself out of a quota.

It was the longest traffic stop in history- he kept calling time outs! ~8)
Or not calling timeouts
(see VT over UVA dominance, 2012 edition)
oh yeah that's was it ... he actually explained it afterwards like it was strategy... maybe something he picked up at the academy.
Great write-up about it here

Theres also the time that we played Army and several cadets went and spent time with them before the game. They found out West Point had gotten a live turkey they were going to sacrifice before the game, so the managed to liberate it, in the process having stolen USMA uniforms and thrown the turkey out a 2nd story window.
Unfortunately they put the turkey under the bus for the trip back to VPI and it died, so they had it stuffed and it is still in the Corps' possession, just currently in storage.
cool story - have a link?
Like most good stories, this one has no internet documentation, but has been passed by word of mouth through the Corps for years. Though I'm pretty sure Newman Library housed the stuffed bird for a while after the Corps Museum moved from Rasche.
You know what this is leading up to ... FIND THAT TURKEY!
"Borrowed" USMA uniforms. You meant "borrowed" because they returned them after the mission was completed.
THE HOKIEBIRD, HE IS ALIVE AND HE IS REAL AND NO ONE WILL MAKE ME BELIEVE OTHERWISE!
The Hokiebirds not real?!
First Santa, and now this!
What happened to Santa???? Is he okay?
I hope he is not eating turkey is all I'm sayin..
That could be pretty sweet.
