LOLUVA weather report

Wow...this season has flown by, which...in term means this semester is about done too. Seriously its like even mother nature decided to skip the entire fall. For those of you on the east coast (particularly those up north) I'm really sorry mother nature decided to bitch smack the country right before thanksgiving and travel day. (speaking of which Happy turkey day everyone!). I do have some good news however (sorta)!

For once, it will not be shitty in Hooville for a weekend. With the Hokies traveling there, mother nature seems to be smiling on us again, as the skies look to be clearing out here in the next few days.

As the low pressure system that brought this cold front and terrible mix of wintry weather to us gets pushed out, expect the skies to begin clearing out shortly. However, as I've been harping and hammering home all season, expect temperatures to still be low....the euro is showing a high of 50, however most other models are showing highs in the low 40s. So at kickoff I expect temperatures to be around 40-45 degrees and dropping steadily as the early winter nights begin to settle in. By the end of the game, the temperatures should drop well into the thirties with light winds (gusts up to around 5 MPH). Skies should be mostly clear (little to no cloud cover) so at least there's that...I mean, at least its not gonna be sleeting and snowing and freezing raining and every other terrible terrible thing i can think of in a winter storm!

Speaking of which, I'm sure you guys up north are getting some pretty horrible stuff as of now and possibly even some accumulation. Those of you paying attention probably saw that "oh hey, weather man says a warm front is coming through we're only gonna get rain, and less precip!" Well let me tell you, that is a dangerous assumption to make! especially during the winter (as temperatures drop drastically as jet stream's lower down super far due to seasonality) warm fronts typically bring with them bad weather. This is because air temperatures are normally so low that when warm air is brought up from the tropics via a warm front, it's usually forced upwards (remember warm air is less dense and rises over cold air because of that). Since again temperatures are so low, when this air rises and condenses it tends to freeze and become a horrible mixture from your worst nightmares, much like what we saw this weekend. Freezing rain, Sleet, Hail, Snow...terrible terrible stuff over the winter. SO because mother nature decided to skip the whole fall thing and skip from summer into winter, typical fall fronts (one storm a week due to low pressure systems heading from Canada south and then back north) bring a warm front, and that's why were seeing these conditions we're seeing up north. The low pressure system brought in from the northwest flowed southeast and then back up to the northeast bringing with it some warm moist air from the gulf. This air then froze over and created all this Thanksgiving havoc we've been seeing the past few days. Luckily, if you've made it thus far it should be clearing out by the end of the night!

This rivalry weekend will be perfect weather up and down the east coast as those high pressure systems roll in. All up and down the east coast, expect some clear skies and cooler temperatures. As we push into next week (which I like to call hell week due to tests prior to finals) expect some warm weather and temperatures. the next low pressure system doesn't look like its coming in until mid late next week.

how this all plays out

Well the Hokies have been prone to playing down to their opponents, luckily (ironically enough) I think our passing game has become the strength of this offense. As much as I'd love to let Trey carry the load, UVA's defensive weakness is definitely their secondary, so I do think we should see what mailman and Stanford can do in the air and would love to see us keep them off balance with some first down passes here and there (comon Loeffler!!!) however if we can get the running game going then its game over. Benching David Watford further proves that TimeCop is either dumb as a brick or drunk on the sideline. Scrambling QBs have given our vaunted defense trouble all year and to put in a pocket QB....well thats just silly. That coupled with the fact that their receivers have been able to catch a ball all season and you have a recipe for disaster on offense! ANNNNNND its the dudes first career start....what are you trying to do?! DESTROY HIS CONFIDENCE?! I mean im not complaining, i think its kind of funny since im a fan for the opposite side. The weather shouldnt be much of a factor, the ball is gonna be hard due to the low temperatures however its not like its 8 degrees and windy out there. (speaking of which who here watched the Northern Illinois game?! god i hope they all got chicken noodle soup in the locker room.)

Final predictions (IM NOT DOING SCORES ANYMORE!!!!!!)

Kickoff temperature - 42 degrees
Winds - maximum of 5 MPH skies
Partly Cloudy skies
NO PRECIP (forreal this time...i promise guys...like really...we're not in florida this time)

GO HOKIES!!!
