Was surprised to see this. Top ten in food, happiness, and more. Nice add to the list.
Oh, pics are worth checking out...

It's funny, all I remember eating in college was pizza, pasta, and DX.
I gained 30 lbs my first semester thanks to beer and gumbys.
Now I dont know from experience but my brothers have told me that Gumbys is only good when your wasted, and is absolutely dreadful when sober.
Your brother is/was correct. Gumby's XL cheese sticks. I have many fond memories of ordering these, eating 1 and then passing out. Nothing better than waking up to a full box of cheese sticks in the morning. Hungover me would always high five drunk me for that.
One of my friends in college ordered pokey sticks one night while she was blacked out. The next morning she woke up and magically had a box of pokey sticks next to her in bed. Said it was the greatest morning ever.
Breakfast of champions.
I was at a rugby party and Kevin Jones shows up drunk. The rugby guys convinced him to tackle me (I was in crutches) and I flipped a judo move and ended up on top of him. When he and his roommate left, they took me with them and we drove around talking, looking for the Gumbys delivery car. KJ hopped out and said, "do you know who I am?"
Pizza guy was like, "shit, yes!"
KJ was like, "so what's up with those Pokey Sticks?"
Pizza guy, "Man, they're yours!"
So we ate Pokey Sticks and Demetrius and KJ tried talking me into joining Kappas.
It was the greatest Hokie night of my life.
This is possibly one of the best stories I've heard. It shits on my story about pokey sticks anyway
R.I.P. Gumbys.
I find it ironic that one of the biggest debates on this site is cake or pie...then this...
I'm getting suspiciously hungry all of a sudden.
I was on the track team running 70+ miles per week for 5 years (redshirted) and left VT 20 pounds heavier. Just saying.
D2, It'll get after ya.
Heh, I was on the fencing team and the ski team and LOST 15 pounds my freshman year. And I was already pretty slim coming in...
All muscle, baby!
The best part is a few years back, LOLUVa claimed this accolade!
Flagship university. HA!
I was in awful shape freshman year. Living next door to west end was the worst and best thing to ever happen to me.
After that, I was fairly healthy and in good shape, but that freshman year was sinful
I lived in East AJ freshman year, too, but all of my classes were across campus. I lost like 15 or so pounds just from hiking to Derring and McBryde for class.
Came in to VT at 180, left at 240. Between Schultz (RIP Schultz), West End, Hardees, Sheetz, Bogens...I was a mess. Took me a long time to lose that weight
No Macado's on that list? Half price hindie's (on Monday I think)?
Definitely Mondays. My wife always steers me away. But next time I'm bringing a cooler. I'm getting some macado sauce to go too.
It's just Tiger sauce, which you can buy on its own or mix horseradish and mayonnaise. Source: worked in the Macado's kitchen for a few dreadful months.
I never did get to try Bogen's.
Ah damn you missed shrimp night. We used to hit up the bar, get free popcorn, drink, pool and then eat a ton of steamed shrimp.
This kind of lends itself to another big debate...
Sheetz vs. Wawa...
#TeamSheetz
#TeamSheetz .....
and to show my true carpetbagger stripes - #TeamWegman's
I love em both, but I have to go with #TeamWawa simply because my wife works for the Company. LOL

With all the new classes and renovations to McComas, this isn't all that surprising we are ranked so high. There is so much to do around Blacksburg.
suck it washington university of st louis!
also, princeton had more people for that game than uva had at their spring game.
Used to play basketball at Mccomas all the time on Friday afternoons then I turned 21 and basketball got replaced by Power Hour at Hokie House...talk about a 180
Please tell me that none of you are actually taking this seriously. These stupid lists come out weekly and have virtually no factual basis.
About time I see a Stipes gif somewhere on the web. +1
That's a fact, Jack!
As I continue to read posts about the current dining halls, I get pissed. Hokie grill opened my freshman year, all it had was Pizza Hut and chick fila. Owens was being renovated and best food option. Dietrick gave you the runs, and Schultz was like the healthier version of Dietrick. No west end. Luckily I stayed long enough for west end to open.
Looks like I need another degree...
this. When I was at VT, Owens was far and above the best option. I ate there almost every meal. Everywhere else was just OK. Seems we missed out on some great food.
Seems legit.
Thanks for posting this! I was going to, but you beat me to it. I may not have been the paradigm of fitness, but I definitely enjoyed all the different ways to stay active: from McComas and War, to intramural sports, to awesome dining halls. Not to mention the fact that Blacksburg is settled in an excellent area for outdoor sports.
As if I needed ANOTHER reason to be proud of Virginia Tech. GO HOKIES!!!!
only by three months. So close!
Hahaha. I very obviously didn't notice the original post date. I assumed it was recent because I saw it referenced outside of TKP this past weekend. Excellent gifs....
This is some nice accolades for the Hokie Nation and I like it! But only 1 service academy on the top 50 list...a bit suspicious. My son went to AFA, that is one fit student body, my friends. I'm sure West Point is incredible in shape as well. I would put the service academies as the first three and then start from there.
I believe Sam Rogers offsets the average of the student body by so much that even if all students were morbidly obese, Virginia Tech would still be the fittest college in the world by a landslide.
