Hey guys, welcome to week 7 and we havent had the crazy, shit has hit the fan week of upsets and extremely close games yet. Is it this week?

I am jealous of you guys that will be in Blacksburg this weekend. Right in the middle of heaven, peak fall season, the weather, the leaves, and of course the awkward Hokie RESPECT announcement before our Hokies take the field. If were in town, the Cascades would get a couple hours of my time, I think next year, I'll make a #beercontrolfather family date out of it.
The Games:
Thursday, October 10th
Rutgers at (8) Louisville -16.5 ~~ 7:30 pm ESPN

- Why to watch? To preview next years number one overall NFL pick to the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars, Sir Teddy Bridgewater
- Any other reason? No, not really
Pick: The ville laying the points. The Cardinals schedule is so bad, that when they play their marquee opponents, yes one of them is Rutgers, they'll look to prove a point and run it up.
***
Saturday, October 12th
Pittsburgh at (25) Virginia Tech -9.5 ~~ 12:00 pm ESPNU
- Yay, it's Pitt, I have a great memory of VT pasting Pitt my senior year, back in 1994. About three of my readers remember that. Basically since 2000, they've been a big pain in our ass
- I like Pitt's brand of football and if asked, I am sure Frank Beamer would agree, I want this to be a hard fought, tough nosed rivalry ... as long as Tech wins of course
Pick: Pitt getting the points. VT will win a dogfight, because that's what Pitt does to VT.
***
(10) Oklahoma -13.5 vs Texas ~~ 12:00 pm ABC

- The Big 12 refs saved Mack Brown from getting canned last week when they helped the Longhorns steal a victory from Iowa State, the zebras are gonna have to put in work this week to beat OU
- I loved the artist formerly known as "Big Game" Bob Stoops going all #getoffmylawn by calling out the SEC for having poor defenses and being absolutely right about it
Pick: OU getting the points. Stoops won't let up, any chance he can get to knock Texas back as much as he can, he'll do.
***
(17) Florida at (11) LSU -7.5 ~~ 3:30 pm CBS
- I know we VT fans fancy Bud Fosters unit as the best defense in the country, but truth be known, that distinction belongs to the Gators they are elite vs SEC offenses
- I believe in the Mad Hatter, if only because I want the Bayou Bengals to be national title relevant and want an amazing post game conference performance worthy of the full youtube/gif treatment
Pick: Florida getting the points. This will be a low scoring close game, LSU by less than a touchdown.
***
(2) Oregon -13.5 at (19) Washington ~~ 4:00 pm ABC
- I'm not ready to say Ducks' HC Mark Helfrich has completely replaced Chip Kelly, but it's pretty clear he's got the offensive system on lockdown and the Ducks aren't going anywhere
- The SEC West is the best division in all of college football, but the ACC Atlantic (only to get better next year) and Pac12 North could have surpassed the SEC East
Pick: Oregon getting the points. Udub is very good with an improved defense, but this is Oregon's first big game, I think they'll show out.
***
(9)Texas A&M -6.5 at Ole Miss ~~ 8:30 pm ESPN

- There is a Doctor Bo Wallace, Obamacare joke in here somewhere, I'm just not good enough to think it up
- Doesn't seem that long ago that Manzeil, not Clowney was the poster boy for spoiled athlete of the year. Drama, narratives, ratings, As the SEC World Turns.
Pick: aTm laying the points. Ole Miss has been exposed.

Beer of the Week:

Louisville and the points. Rutgers is just not good (Hooray B1G!)
Virginia Tech - Getting the points and winning big. Offense puts it together this week!
Oklahoma - Stoops is obnoxious, but at least he's not Mack Brown.
Florida gets points, LSU gets the game
Oregon - Points and game, just can't pick against those blond cheerleaders
Texas A&M - and a few more points, would be more, but their D still sucks (read: I haven't actually payed attention to them since they lost to Bama to know any different)
Still on the water train, will be day 20 on my whole 30.

Florida at LSU -7.5 - UF can stay w/in a TD of the Tigers
Oregon -13.5 at Washington - Oregon's gonna Duck up the W
Texas A&M -6.5 at Ole Miss - aTm by a mile
Louisville; This will be the most anticlimactic regular season provided they don't sleep through a game and choke
Virginia Tech; I think it's safe to say we like our noon games. sigh.
Oklahoma; The hot seat starts warming back up
Florida; From what I've learned with my picks is, I'll never get the SEC right. So coin flip it is.
Oregon; Quack attack on high alert.
Texas A&M; Ole Miss, you've burned me twice. I'll take Johnny Cashball is this one.

Virginia Tech (As always, an emotional pick. Tough to see us winning by 10+, but... HOKIES!!)
Oklahoma (Tejas may not make a tackle the entire game...)
LSU (Can I set my confidence points at 1 for this one? I like LSU here, but the spread seems to be set perfectly)
Oregon (13.5 is a large spread for most teams. For Oregon, it's just 3 minutes of game clock)

Rutgers -- Think this is closer than people think
Virginia Tech -- There's going to be some revenge factor and think Savage throws 2+ INTs
Oklahoma -- Mack Brown will get beat down
Florida -- Crazy talented defense, think they have more 5 stars in their D 2 deep than VT has ever had on team
Oregon -- i struggled with this one
Texas A&M -- Hugh Freeze has an absolutely brutal schedule
Rutgers + 16.5
Pittsburgh +9.5
Tejas +13.5
LSU -7.5
Oregon -13.5
Ole Miss +6.5
What worries me most this week is that I feel pretty damn confident in most of these picks. So here goes:
Rutgers at Louisville -16.5 - Louisville. Rutgers can't play D and the Cardinals are a major step up in competition. Also, the AAC is insanely awful.
Pittsburgh at Virginia Tech -9.5 - Pitt. I can't lay nearly 10 points on the Hokies considering the absolute beating they took last year at Pitt. I'm just hoping to get out with a W.
Oklahoma -13.5 vs Texas - Oklahoma. Stoops has owned Brown and he won't shy away from running up the score when he gets the chance. OU is pretty deep at skill positions so they don't have much reason to ease up anyway.
Florida at LSU -7.5 - Florida. This is my toughest pick of the week, but I think the Gators cover the points as their offense has maybe found a better rhythm having a more athletic QB at the helm.
Oregon -13.5 at Washington - Oregon. Despite Wash being much improved, I have to roll with Oregon until they prove otherwise. I'm not sure Washington's defense can slow down the Oregon offense quite like Stanford has in recent years.
Texas A&M -6.5 at Ole Miss - TAMU. You have to recognize that Manziel makes plays and racks up points and Ole Miss' offense will struggle to keep up. Ole Miss is an improved program but they aren't ready to take down the big boys just yet.

LOUISVILLE is joining the ACC next year, obviously much better than Rutgers.
PITT has owned the Hokies for the last 13 years. I don't see any reason for this to change.
TEXAS has nothing to lose. Teams are most dangerous when they have nothing to lose.
Hmm... LSU sounds like FSU, but Florida is from my favorite state... Gotta go with the TIGERS, since the Gators have no offense. They might not score a single point against LSU.
OREGON. Just, OREGON.
TEXAS A&M, since Mississippi has been terrible for the last few weeks.

This may be the best team Louisville plays until they meet Boston College year or in 2023, not sure when this is actually happening. Regardless the Ville will score point after point after point. This will be a real problem for them when they enter the #goacc because we all know #PuntingIsWinning
Saturday picks after I am a little sauced...
...Saturday game picks
Pitt
I have 6 VT/Pitt games live. We are 3-3 in those matchups. I am glad I am not going to this one as lately I have only seen us loose. Those games do include the 2004 game, BCO. Me and you are the old ones. Pitt scares me and I think we play down to their level, which is close to our. I haven't seen our running game in a while. Tom Savage is becoming a good QB, sometimes it takes 5 schools to find the right fit. I think our D hold him in check but we win in a close one.
Oklahoma
The Red River SHOOTOUT. A storied rivalry that is thrust upon us. Not to mention the fried everything that can be had at this game. Texas is worse than they look and Stoops and his team score as many as they can.
LSU
UF has the best defense in the country. LSU has a great defense and a surprisingly good offense. While the game should be close, LSU should win by 10. The mad hatter is too good.
Oregon
A lot of people are picking uDub. That says to me take Oregon. Oregon starters haven't played a full game all year. Not sure you can call the loluva game more than a scrimmage. This is a rivalry game and while uDub has a good D, Oregon will rip it apart. Also, their cheerleaders rocks, i haz sadz there is no picture.
Texas A&M
Manziel > Bo Wallace. aTm should kill them and Johnny Football will be sipping vodka filled water bottles by the start of the 4th quarter.
These picks are brought to you by Pyramid Oktoberfest. It isn't German but the local market that lets dogs in had this available on my nightly dog walk. Its not my favorite but its fall and the christmas beers are not out yet. It will be 9:00am Rogers at the bar tomorrow. Pittsburgh at Virginia Tech -9.5 - This is much more a pick from the heart, but man do we owe Pitt an ass whooping!
Oklahoma -13.5 vs Texas - Sooner Boomer in a snoozer
Florida at LSU -7.5 - Florida can't be that good, I mean Miami beat them
Oregon -13.5 at Washington - Oregon will cover by then end of the first quarter
Texas A&M -6.5 at Ole Miss - Johnny can score a lot of points, if he wants to
Last minute midseason entry for MRSDOZER (sorry I am posting for her)
Louisville - "that's a lot of point but yeah, they will get them"
Pittsburgh - "I don't think we'll beat them by 10"
Oklahoma - "isn't jonny football still there, oh wait that's a&m. yeah texas isn't good this year"
LSU - "I think LSU will win by more than that"
Washington - "I have to say no to one of them so it doesn't look like I am only saying no to VT"
Texas A&M "uh huh they have jonny football"
well off to a bad start for quite a good chunk of us :/
