Usually after a loss it takes me a while to get over it, let's say until Tuesday or Wednesday before I focus on the next opponent. But this week I find myself already excited for the next game. I don't know if it's the new coaching staff, the way the defense played, how good Trey Edmunds was, or how good the O-line was when all of them were expected to do very little against the one and only Alabama. As soon as the clock struck zero I immediately starting thinking about Western Carolina and how this team would bounce back, which rarely happens right after a loss. I don't think I have ever been as excited for a Tech team ever. Does anybody else feel the same way?

I am looking forward to the game against WCU. I'm hoping the offense will find a rhythm and show us more of its identity. I also feel like it's a good opportunity for a defensive or special teams score, which will energize the fanbase once again.
Everybody better cheer extra hard for me. It's the first home opener I will miss since starting at VT in 2003. I'll miss it badly but will be watching on ESPN3!
I would like to see Edmunds go off for 200+. Boy would that be nice.
Only if he does it in the first half, I want Edmunds and all of our defensive starters, with the possible exception of Kendall/Faycon and Tremble to be sitting the entirety the second half against WCU. Depending on how Logan and the receivers look, in the first half, I might want them to get some extra reps in the 3rd. Possibly rotate through all 3 deep of the WRs throughout the game and sit Logan and most of the O-Line starters early in the 3rd.
It's on ESPN3? They didn't show any broadcast info on it when they showed our schedule.
That's what it says on Hokiesports and espn.com.
Good. Admittedly, one of my worries about losing to Alabama was where I would be able to watch future games.
But I'll be very worried if we play them like we played Austin Peay last year.
Same here. I want to see 40+ points from the offense. If they only manage say 28 or so, then that would be very very bad.
I think this coaching staff is good enough to keep us from playing to the opponents level. I am excited to see Joel Caleb and seeing if the coaches will experiment with any younger WR's and maybe give Coles and Knowles a bench longer than usual so the younger guys get some experience.
Yeah, that's how I feel somewhat too.

I think the players put their hearts into that game so I'm looking to see how the staff keeps them focused this week. And I want to see LOTS of passing to build the WRs confidence.... oh and special teams not wetting the bed, but I'm not to worried about that. Sounded like in the post game interview Frank is going to move some older guys on there.
Good.
I read somewhere that Kyle Fuller straight-up volunteered to help on kick coverage.
This is what makes him so great. Always trying and helping out somewhere. And after that block he had last night, I would love to see him light up returners this year.
Great, put him and Dadi as gunners on punt coverage as well. That would be just fine with me.
Here we go, per Andy Bitter:

I had the same strange reaction. Normally after a loss I try to be philosophical and objective about it, but in reality I am depressed for several days afterwards. Yesterday, I was very nearly giddy! I read your post and was glad someone else felt the same way. I have been thinking about it, and I now realize that after last season I had developed a deep down fear that our best days were behind us. As a person of faith, you never want to give voice to your fears, but still--there was plenty of evidence that the Hokies were on the wane--destined for the fringes and the wannabes. After Saturday, I believe! Don't get me wrong--we have lots to work on--but between our dominant defense, the improved o-line, Trey's coming out, the intensity of the new coaches, etc., etc., I am pulling out the sunglasses again. My hope that our best is still ahead has been restored!
