Was anyone else appalled by the unsportsmanlike conduct of the Seattle Seahawks and their fans, juiced on noise...
I read this, and could totally imagine uva fans* saying the same thing about Lane.
I could also imagine Weaver implementing a shhhh policy if he got this complaint. /shudders
*Yeah, I know: what fans?

No way that is real. It has to be some sort of satire or something
I wish it were satire. I live here in the bay area, and the radio stations have callers complaining that Seattle's noise is "fan interference" and should be penalized. How were the 49ers so good for so long with such soft football fans?

If this isn't a satire, then this person went to uva
I was gonna say either that, or someone who literally knows absolutely nothing about football. But then I realized you already covered that:
You mean, fans aren't supposed to get into the game?!
I'm reminded of a time when my friends and I were asked to sit down and quiet down...in LANE...by some older fans behind us that "just wanted to watch the football game".
That's what the TV is for. Stay home if you don't want to be part of the 12th man and help provide the home field advantage.
Recent graduate who bought season tickets and ended up on West Side, I sure hope that doesn't happen to me. After the WCU game I'm not so sure it won't though. People around me wouldn't stand or cheer for opening kick, our first touchdown, or the first turnover we created and no one yelled while we were on defense even the first few possessions. Here's to hoping for better environment this weekend.
My first time sitting on the West side (2007 BC game) will be my last. I was not only miserable at the outcome, but throughout the game I was harassed by some older alumni behind me yelling at me to sit down and shut up. Sitting down was something I could do, since they were older alumni and quite possibly can't stand for hours at a time, but no way in hell was I going to shut up on defense or after a big play (which were admittedly few and far between that night...)
Well, to be fair they were older alumni. I've had friends who sat in the west stands and they do say it's much more chill. They just don't have the limitless energy of a drunk 20something. My dad always said, you can't jump and scream like a maniac for 3 hours straight when your in your 50s.
Have to disagree with your dear 'ol dad, there....last game I attended (admittedly some time ago...2007 Ohio game...had tickets on the west side just below the press box (a friend gave me 4 tickets, took the family). I went home hoarse from yelling and tired from standing/jumping. My kids couldn't believe I could yell for that long. Ok, wasn't quite 50 at the time...47...but close enough. And nobody said a thing about sitting down, being quiet, etc.
I think your star should have referenced the singular
*fan
I got a kick out of this smart ass comment.
They forgot to put in zima.
Those bastards probably threw footballs at their tailgates too!
The nerve of some people. How dare they threaten to interrupt a perfectly good wine tasting with something as uncouth as a football game?
CARRUTHERS!! THEY'RE INTERRUPTING OUR WINE FOR THAT BARBARIC FOOSEBALL GAME AGAIN! OH CARRUTHERS!!
I was at UVa last weekend for a conference, and as I was driving out of town I noticed that one of the northernmost UVa buildings along Rte. 29 (basically one of the first buildings you would see coming into town) is called "Carruthers Hall." I had a hard time steering I was laughing so hard.
Edited my last comment to spell "carruthers" correctly and laughed a bunch thanks to you!
Oh man, I laughed too hard at "fooseball"
Funny. I went to see ODU last Saturday. There were "Thundersticks" being distributed outside the stadium. We opened ours up and inflated them so we could make some noise during the game. The first time I started knocking them together I got a bunch of dirty looks from people around me. I thought to myself "how lame". People rarely stood and the noise level was low in general, even with a sold out stadium. Granted, the game was a blowout against an overmatched opponent, but come on. ODU has a ways to go in my opinion.
Their football atmosphere might not be quite there, but their basketball atmosphere puts ours to shame. Being from Norfolk, I'd like to see ODU do well and hopefully they continue to progress as a program. I look forward to when we play them in the near future.
Hey! Did you go to high school there? I graduated from Lake Taylor High School myself.
Yeah I went to Maury.
Its cool to find a fellow Norfolk native on TKP, I thought I was the only one
Yeah, there were quite a few kids from my year that came up to tech and I'm sure there are still more in the pipeline down there. I live in Blacksburg now though, so I don't know as much. I had classes in high school with Kam and Painter though, which makes me wish Tech recruited Norfolk a little bit more. Lake Taylor definitely has a good program right now.
Yeah I was actually pretty excited to see Lake Taylor win states last season, but Oscar Smith EMBARRASSED them to start this one. I was really hoping Jalyn Holmes(sp?) was going to commit to tech, but Im honestly not surprised he chose Ohio State. I actually had a class (at Tech) with Painter as well! It was like intro to property management or something like that. We even did an assignment together, it was the highlight of the class for me.
My dad graduated from there.
Shoot, small world!
But that was back in the mid 70s. Then he went on to Tech. Our fam lived in the 804. My dad kept telling me about this one athelete he knew that went to UM and became a player for the Vikes.
I tried to do some digging on who that might've been, but all I can find in terms of LT grads playing for Minnesota are Ronyell Whitaker and Marvin Mitchell. But I did find a cool list of famous people from the 757

True story: in the FCS playoffs a couple of years back, ODU hosted Norfolk State.
NSU fans were reportedly complaining about all the noise that the ODU fans were making.
Having attended several HBCU games in my day, I found that ironic.
Never before have I been so ashamed to be a 49ers fan. My grandfather would be turning in his grave if he knew this was how even a part of the fan base thinks (and wasn't currently in a little box on my mom's shelf, but whatever).
This is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. "Unsportsmanlike" for fans being load LMAO. Its more unsporting to be a poor sports when you lose and then right a letter saying "boo hoo there fans are too load :-(" it does sound like something UVA fans would do.
