questions about tailgating tent rules

so yeah, i got one for christmas and saturday will be my first game in the burg this year. i thought there was a rule that they could only be set up in grassy areas so people didnt take up parking spots (yeah weaver!) and that was first come first serve. i was looking around on hokiesports and all it said was your tailgate couldnt extend beyond the parking space and block traffic.

so does anyone know the deal? can i just set up in a spot or do i have to get there early and get a grassy spot? i'm really just worried about because the chance of rain and dont wanna have to pregame in the hotel room.

It's not a weaver thing thing, it's a police/safety/general respect for other pedestrians/tailgaters, but the way they see it is that you can claim grass space. As long as you aren't directly in the parking lot or flooding onto the sidewalk you are fine.

I've set up in the middle of the parking lot before and never had an issue. People just tend to get there early to claim a spot on the grass as those are the best spots. The prices fork lot hasn't been filling up lately so I've seen a good many people setting up tents wherever. As long as you're not taking up a parking spot that someone wants to park in you'll be fine.

You are damn right you can have tents and grass real estate!! I do it every home game!!
