Brutally funny stuff. They're probably 4th in the nation in 3rd downs because Oregon (and I'm just guessing here) always got a first down in two plays. Looks like some responders fixed the guy though.

THe funniest part about the Sabre to me is that you know they all just want to bash us....but there's gotta be that little voice in the back of their head saying, "but they've beat us 9 years straight and have held the Commonwealth Cup for over 3000 consecutive days" that keeps them from doing it too much.

I read that as a rhetorical question to explain why they were talking about VT's defense as opposed to UVA's. However, that might not be a safe assumption for a UVA blog.

This is my favorite part. That is probably because Oregon scored on first and second down and didn't have to bother with 3rd.

I guess you're thinking VT will not play Clemson or FSU in the championship game. Because, as good as Cato was, Boyd and Winston are on the same level. The difference is the offensive line, WRs and RBs are much better on those teams. So, yea, let's hope we earn the opportunity to play against some better offenses!

Let's analyze this.
BYU has offense similar to that of ours last year. A dumpster fire. No identity.
Against Oregon, they actually did do pretty good on 3rd down, 3-10. It doesn't mean anything if you give up 59 points and 557 yards.
VMI is TERRIBLE, worse than WCU. They got shutout against Richmond, beat Glenville St. by a TD (and almost lost) and lost to North Greenville by 13.
Outside of Oregon, UVA hasn't exactly been tested. Enter Pitt.
And they still managed to gift BYU 362 yards!!! Guess that's what great defenses do, give up over 350 yards a game.

I have no interest in reading what they have to say, but in general using 3rd down numbers to argue about the strength of a defense isn't all that accurate.

I'll be honest, UVA's defense looked fairly good today. However, Pitt's offense isn't anything to write home about. If UVA's defense can't put up points on Pitt they might be in for a LONG season.

These are UVA fans we're talking about here. Honestly, I don't know what the SEC equivalent would be, but I want to say that they come from one of the MS schols.
The snootiest SEC school is probably Vandy, and even they play tough football. I don't think there is an equivalent.
