Bitter blog - New o-line coach Stacy Searels makes mark as hero

My Saturday story on new o-line coach Stacy Searels and an act of heroism from 2000 that's led to a bond that continues today. I figured I'd get this out there before it gets lost in the shuffle of the spring game.

This is incredible. I love the Hokies, and I love our coaching staff.

Thanks for the story, Andy.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Wow. Great story, Andy. I don't even know what else to say. To call Coach Searels a great guy, a courageous guy, whatever, just seems inadequate. What a genuinely good human being. Glad he's a Hokie.

"Exit light..."

Thanks for sharing that with us, Andy.

Great work Andy! You've taken a figure-head, in this case a coach, and made him real to us...personable...admirable. Thank you for opening up this side of him to us, and reminding us that football is secondary to the precious gift of life. A narrative like this makes us wonder and hope that we'd act the same way, if thrust into a dire situation like that. Much love for coach--

If it ain't orange, it better be maroon...and if it ain't maroon, it better be soon!

I want to say something really clever, but I simply have no words. Tech found a real diamond with Coach Searels.

Thanks, Andy.

That was intense and should remind people to never risk getting behind the wheel, while under the influence. Glad to have you aboard, Coach Searels!

Really inspiring.

Great story, better man. Coach Searels and Sam Roger's brother have a lot to talk about.

That'd be like the most interesting man in the world meeting the old spice spokesman.
