Wiles has declared Ekanem as his number one defensive end (and Corey Marshall at nose tackle.)
I am excited to see this video of Marshawn Williams and Greg Jones that he is promising.
What do you think about Mihota being moved to DT...do u think he would be a better End or DT?
Based on his film, without knowing what kind of talent he was playing against, I would keep him at end. Wiles indicated they wanted to move him inside after seeing his movement in offseason workouts. Putting on my guessing hat, that means:
1) He doesn't have the bend to go with his first step to be an effective pass rusher or pursue flat down the line (he was a very north-south player in high school, so it was tough to tell on his bend.)
2) Wiles sees his body type and frame and assumes he is going to get much bigger. He may move well enough now, but when he adds Gentry-muscle and mass he may not be quick enough.
Again, those are guesses. But, the defensive end has to be able to run down a zone stretch play from behind. If he can't, inside he goes. That is the big theme.
I've been looking forward to seeing Ekanem hit the field ever since he signed with the Hokies
I don't want to be that guy, but, "This!"
So have I. When he came in I was thinking Jason Worilds. Hopefully, this isn't just a move to get a light fired under someone else.
First we had bane Gayle now we have Bane Ekanem

'Boy, you get too big, your hand about to go in the dirt.'
This Deon Clarke quote cracked me up. I'm just jealous that current quality of Tech's food is so superior to the laxatives they used to call "meals" when I was there.
Yeah, in the mid-late 70's they served "cycle" meals. Hamburgers one day, Swiss or Salisbury steak the next, further broken down into chili the 3rd day, then it would start the cycle again. The salad bar at Owens was, oh, about 3 feet long.
