Scrimmage Questions?

So the first scrimmage is here today, and I'll be going to interviews after it's over. We're going to get to talk to Frank, Bud and Loeffler, Brewer, Leal and whoever does well in the scrimmage.

We're going to get "abbreviated stats", so don't expect anything in that department. I'm HOPING we see how many carries each running back gets, but I'm not optimistic.

So I'm going to open it up to anyone, what questions do you care about most? Is there anything you want me to ask a coach or a player? I'll be reading this thread and try to get as many of your questions answered that I can.

1) regardless of if they are still actively part of the battle to be the starting QB, how have Andrew Ford and Chris Durkin progressed in falls camp. What are their strengths, and what do they still need to work on to get better? If they were needed tomorrow, who is the most ready to play?

2) what is the backup plan at defensive end is Alford and Dooley are not healthy? Same question at offensive tackle.

3) which freshmen do you think will make the most impact on coverage teams?

Who do the players think will be the breakout star of this season.

Linebacker play?

If you get a chance to talk to shai McKenzie, ask if he is still having any soreness in his good knee.

Has Ronny Vandyke solidified himself as the starting whip? Will he be used inside any? How has he performed during full contact work after missing so much time with injury?

1)What are the chances Motuapukua/McKinnon sees the field this year in a significant role (Special Teams, specific defensive sub packages etc)

2)Who is currently most likely to fill in for Fayscon if he isn't healthy opposite Kendall Fuller?

3)Do they think they would consider putting only the Freshman WRs on the field together or should we expect there will be one of the returning vets on the field at all times?

Could you ask Torrian what his take is on the freshman DB's? I would like to know who has caught his eye and which are taking the most advantage of learning from the experienced starters?

Okay, I have to do this.

Cake or pie?

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Pie, duh.

How he honestly plans to give Trey, JC, Shai, Marshawn, Travon, and Joel all carries in a single game

Duh.

5 centers. 5 RB. 1 TE. 5 balls. Rotate Caleb & Travon every other set of downs. Anytime Joel is in, they'll have to respect the pass to whichever TE is lined up.

This stuff is so simple. I can see why French & the rest of the staff do it.

What role do the coaches see the fullback playing this season and in particular Sam Rogers? With a slew of healthy tight ends, how much will we see the fullback this year?

Man, I wish Jarrett Ferguson had been this popular. He was far superior in every aspect of the game (except maybe passing) than Rogers at the same point in their careers.

Honestly if Loeffler trusts the tight ends, I expect much more ace formation work with a tight end and an HBack or just an HBack than sets using a fullback. I don't think Rogers will see the field as much this year. He is a nice player who gives great effort. But expect Loeffler to use guys like Cline and Hodges as "wham blockers" that can slip out and get vertical on play action.
