Not going to lie, I'm a little peeved that Maryland doesn't have to pay the full amount.
Whatever, they're going to rot something horrible in the B1G. Was a very dumb move for them, which will only appear to be even more dumb when the ACC announces its own network in the next year or so.

My understanding (tifwiw) is that $31 mil. = the amount the ACC had withheld from MD already. So Maryland wont actually be paying out anything new. The ACC probably just accepted the settlement so they wouldn't have to go through the process of actually trying to pry money from the terps cold dead hands. The Stewie video above would likely be an accurate representation of how this would go down.

They're not paying anything new, but the price they've paid from basically having all that money withheld for the last year or so has been damaging to them. And IIRC they don't get full payouts from B1G until they've been a member for a few years.

I don't disagree with the Big Ten's position of not paying the Terps at all.
However, MD (and Nebraska before them to a larger extent) opens up a new market - MD's and Rutger's TV footprints and Nebraska's national brand, for exploitation by the Big Ten. The conference is going to make bank off the new members and they won't get an equal slice of the pie for it. I think that's a little jacked up.

The Twerps are hurting so bad for cash that they are renting out Cole Field House this year to the Ohio State alumni for a tailgate when the Buckeyes come to town. To the tune of $100k!!!
Do you think we can talk UVA into this for JPJ? Maybe for a little cheaper of course, given we bought all the tix.

Triangle Hokies Alumni Chapter| 11 years 11 months#^
We might not be renting out an arena, but there will Official Alumni Tailgates for anyone planning to come to either the North Carolina and/or Duke games this year. Don't want to give away too much information right now, but I will say this, Duke has worked out a VERY nice deal with us this year that offers a significant advantage to those who purchase a ticket & tailgate package through us. Stay tuned for more details!

I'm sure the Terps will just love their new B1G

Big 10 already has a network...
That's some bs, I want my other $21 million! Wheres my money, pay my rent!
Still think that Maryland made a B1G mistake by leaving the ACC.
I see what you did there...
Now both parties can move on and focus on the upcoming college season.
Now are they going to divide that 32 million among the other 11 ACC teams at the time? Tech can use a spare 2.5 million.
I motion these moneys be placed into a special ACC tailgating slush-fund.
The funds should be disbursed in proportion to how full each team fills their stadium during the spring game.
How does a Spring Game over ride a National Title? I'm sure FSU wouldn't be too happy with that ruling.
You're obviously new here. Someday, you'll figure out this inside-TKP joke, and you'll say "OH Yeah! I shoulda given that guy a Leg!".
And FSU doesn't tailgate. Dey crab.
hey don't pick on FSU they have a 100% crab completion level. (insert whitty UVA joke here)
So you're saying UVA will have to pitch in money? I like it.
This guy gets it.

Yeah, financially they're Greece.

I have no problem with Maryland being bludgeoned, shot with firearms, and toasted with flamethrowers.
This sucks royally, should have made them pay.
Should have at least made them have a yard-sale on some of those uniforms and donate proceeds to The Epilepsy Foundation.

Awesome. But I NEVER want to see any other teams fans in Cassell. No matter what they want to pay.
Is this open to non alumni? Live in SC would love to make the UNC game for my birthday.
