I really want to for the boys to win this one. The Hoos played spoiler to us three years ago, time to play spoiler for them. Go Hokies!

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Screw LOLUVA that is all! Go hokies!

Bold Prediction: we score more than 40 points!

Wilson playing with confidence! Great start.

Oh, okay Hokies! Up 22-14.

Wilson is going to be a great, four year player for us. He shows poise for a freshman, and he's improved as the season has gone on, despite the extended minutes each game.

Cassell is juiced tonight. Great job by the students to show up loud.

Must've been the free shirts. (I kid, I kid... mostly.)

i have literally watched about one game this entire bball season (that one being the VCU nightmare) so maybe I'm speaking out of my a**, but I read what everyone says about the games here on TKP. I just turned on the game and after reading what some of those here in the community feel about coach JJ, it seems like maybe he's figured it out and might be coaching his way to at least another year. If he finishes out this year strong does anyone think he gets another year? And by strong I don't necessarily mean wins.

There was actually a pretty good TSL pass article earlier today about this. Long story short, the guys at TSL believe (and I agree with them) that JJ is most likely gonna be around one more year regardless. That said, a strong finish will go a long way towards helping Babcock get some energy into the bball program, not to mention quieting down a good chunk of the fanbase.

*Edited because redundant statements are redundant.

Never thought I'd see the day I'd see "good" and "TSL" in the same sentence.

Not quite sure what you think this achieves.

What do you mean?

I mean there's no reason to bash another website (especially a site full of fellow Tech fans) for no reason. I, like just about everyone else on this site, prefer the message board layout/community better on TKP, but that doesn't mean that TSL doesn't regularly put out quality material covering VT athletics. The whole TSL-hate thing just seems stupid and immature, like the freshmen who come in and think the term "UV-gay" hasn't been heard a million times before.

I'm sorry my comment offended you [sarcastica]. Now shut up and enjoy Harris choking and the airball.

CJ... Oof.... driving the basket from the three-point line is clearly not your thing.

we were getting good looks and making shots, we haven't had a good possession in 5 minutes now

ridiculous shot

What's hilarious is the commentators talking like they just set up a wide-open 3. That was a heck of a shot though.

Gotta be honest, I'm enjoying d'bag Harris going on a choke spree.

Best line so far: "Joe Harris, who had a bad case of the oh-fers in the first half."

And the Flying Dutchman starts off the second half right.

Our boys look really comfortable in this zone, and they're playing with patience on the offensive side of the ball. I think JJ slowing down the tempo a little bit is showing some immediate dividends. Force teams to take bad shots, have quality possessions of our own. When it's working it seems so simple.

Can you imagine how catastrophic it would be for the entire Hoos if we upset them. It would probably ruin their entire season. I bet they don't recover.

Lol! Alright, maybe that's a little too much. But still. I wouldn't be surprised if they get into the tourney and get a crappy seed.

Whoever the announcer is that keeps talking like we're definitely going to blow this game is pissing me off...

big blocks both ways. That should have been a flagrant foul though. He wrapped both arms around him and hugged from behind. no play on the ball

Barkesdale is struggling. fouls, cant hold the ball tightly.

We may not be a very good team but you can't question this team's effort. They refuse to give up on the season. Proud of the Hokies tonight.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Devin Wilson is gonna be something special I think. Joey is starting to figure it out too, him and Devin run a great pick and roll for young guys

Well played game. Was impressed with the intensity of the crowd for a change this season (amazing what happens when people show up) Tough to see it slip away at the end. Free throws at 60% again, although that only would cut the lead in half if it were at 70%.

I was shocked to see our zone defense force UVA to shoot so many three pointers. They threw up 25 attempts tonight from outside the arc. As was mentioned by Brian in his recent write up, our defense is playing to the other teams misses. UVA shot 36% from outside the arc, really kept us in the game.

Also as Brian predicted, giving up offensive rebounds played a big role, UVA had 11 on the night and turned that into 19 points, including three 3's, especially the critical one from Anderson that seemed to turn the tide of the game with about three and a half minutes left, bringing UVA back to only being down one at 46-45. Really tough to win games when you allow the other team 33% of their points on second chances.

Another key factor was the fact we turned the ball over 14 times to their 7, these were especially critical in the first half when we had a chance to bury the Cavaliers. We had five turnovers in the last five minutes of the first half so we only took a seven point lead to half time.

Unfortunately this was a game that hinged on Eddie not being on tonight. He went 1-for-8 from the field, including 1-for-7 from behind the arc. Too many times he could have taken the step to the inside and gotten a 15 footer he chose to launch from behind the line. He did manage to go 4-for-5 from the free throw line but the shooting was too little in the end. You cant have your leading scorer only manage to score one point in the entire second half if you hope to win.

Hats off to Joey and Devin for solid nights with their 13 points a piece.

Every time UVA got an offensive rebound I thought of what Brian said. Devin is gonna be a good player, me thinks. He is absolutely fearless every time he touches the ball.

Will Johnston. The hustle he showed out there was awesome. I don't care that he's not the most talented player in the world, when a guy hustles like that he deserves every minute he gets.

Rip his freaking head off!

First of all, great effort by the boys. It was a fun game to be at even though the final result wasn't what we wanted.
I understand JJ's game plan for the last few games - make it ugly, waste clock to limit opponent's offensive possessions, etc. It's working in terms of keeping games competitive. However, we seemed to have a hard time coming out of that at the end of the game when we needed points. We needed to attack the basket - like Wilson was doing at the very end of the game when it really didn't matter anymore. A few more drives like that interspersed throughout the game and we may have come away with a win.

It almost seemed like a Money Ball-type philosophy. We force the opponent to take low-percentage shots and don't give them the opportunity to take a lot of them. However, statistics mean nothing to the individual and UVA managed to make huge 3's right at the end.

I was wondering when he would actually start utilizing this. They actually moved the stats guys to our bench side of the scoring table this offseason so they could do some in game statistical analysis.
