For those of you who love pies, Brixton (at the corner of 9th & U NW) will be having a PieFest this Saturday.
Tickets are $10 for unlimited samples. Local vendors that will be participating include:
- Blind Dog
- The Brixton
- Connecticut Copperthite
- Dangerously Delicious
- Danielle's Desserts
- Pie Sisters
- Satellite Room
- Teeny Pies
- Whisked
*note: I am not affiliated with any of these vendors (in fact, I think The Brixton is generally overpriced, too crowded and generally unremarkable). Since there are quite a few of you in the DC area and love pies, figured some of you would want to know.

Oh and before the debate kicks off...
Every Cake is beat before it even gets baked ...
Nobody ever sang about Miss American Cake #TeamPie
Or Cherry cake, that I know of
Nobody ever said "As American as apple cake."
The Pietasters were founded in Blacksburg by Hokies in the early 90s:

My brother's band, Running with Scissors, opened for the Pietasters in 2003 at South Main Cafe (now Baja Fish Taco). Let me tell you, those guys knew how to throw down. My liver still hurts.
I've heard of RwS- probably following the 'tasters. GO Ska HOKIES!
Saw the 'tasters in '94 (i'm old) at Pedros (now ?) they had a guy breathing fire on stage for one song.
top that!
we saw the slackers at south main (now fish taco) they were badass. we almost had one of the horn players come back to our apartment to party at like 3 in the morning but some of the people working the tour talked him out of it. we also saw israel vibration (they were good) and the wailers (they actually sucked) there.
I saw Hootie and the Blowfish's last performance in Blacksburg at South Main in 94 before they got huge. Cool vibe.
Best show I ever saw at South Main was a band from Knoxville called Gran Torinio. A gorgeous brunette (so far out of my league we are talking Sunbelt vs SEC) started feeding me Killians. She asked me to walk her home. I obliged but I was drunk enough that I had to look right at her to know what she was saying. And, I walked into the lightpole in front of Woody's and knocked myself cold. Well, at least the show was awesome.
one of the best shows i ever saw was the tasters, flogging molly, and the bosstones at the old trax in charlottesville. i just remember the singer of the pietasters giving the address and directions to a kegger they were going to after the show. they started playing and he yelled "EVERYBODY COME! WERE ALL GOING TO JAIL!!!" it was great.
I picked a hell of a day to be in Orlando.
Good times shall be had.
