After being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons, and then signed with the Eagles, Mike Vick is about to become a free agent. After terrorizing QBs for over a decade, Bruce Smith has become one of the most recognized hokies supporters during games to go along with his NFL Hall of Fame and top pass rushing title. Tyrod Taylor is a SuperBowl Champion and solid backup QB for the Ravens. Kam Chancellor is a SuperBowl champion and arguably the number one safety in the NFL . DeAngelo Hall is still playing for the Redskins, his childhood team. Brandon Flowers is now starting with the Chiefs. Boykin is now catching passes for the Packers. While David Wilson is hoping to get back healthy with the NY Giants for the 2014 season. Recently, Logan Thomas just wowed NFL scouts at the 2014 combine with his athleticism and is hoping to get drafted .
What about the other Hokie players who contributed to the tradition. Where are they now?

Comments
Will Montgomery is still a center with the Washington Redskins, and Josh Morgan played with them the last two years, although he is a free agent and probably won't be back.

Bryan Randall is QB for the Philadelphia Soul which have been successful and fairly popular . Ron Jaws Jaworski is an owner and Jon Bon Jovi was an owner for many years too. GO HOKIES!!
Here's the best list I can find:
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/playersearch?SCHOOL=Virginia+Tech
The list/stats don't necessarily tell the whole story with a lot of these guys in my opinion but it's a pretty good starting place for seeing where all the Hokies are in the nfl!
Has Ryan Williams played in a regular season game yet? Hate for his injuries, but those paychecks must be nice.
I was actually just seeing what was going on with RMFW yesterday and ran across this article. Think Arians is pretty settled with Ellington as the #1, but says that RMFW could factor in as the 2nd RB for the Cardinals. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/20140221arizona-cardi...
He was in a few in 2012 I think. He showed flashes of his old self but I don't think he was able to hold down the starting job.
RMFW has played. I've only seen him once and it was painful to watch.
I believe it was Arizona vs. NE. Tuned it at the end of the game. The Cardinals had the ball with nearly no time left - all they had to do was run the ball three or four times, maybe punt, and the game would be over (pending something disastrous).
Unfortunately, something disastrous happened. RMFW took the hand off, and instead of running straight into the line and getting tackled, he tried to make something out of it (as another first down would have created a kneel down scenario). He was stripped of the ball and NE recovered. In or near FG range.
Thankfully, NE went three-and-kick and missed the last second FG. Broke my heart to see RMFW almost give up the game. I'd heard he was having fumbling problems, something that was kinda prevalent while he was at VT, but it seems that is his kryptonite. That, and injuries.
I know he's had at least one game where he did pretty well, because I had played him in my Fantasy league that week and he did relatively well for me. In that particular game he had some good runs at the end of the game to kill the clock. I believe he had a season ending injury a week or two later though.
His 'fumbling problems' were not prevalent at VT. He fumbled during the UNC game, they recovered then won and since then some claim he has always had fumbling issues.
This site does a pretty good job of tracking Hokies currently in the NFL throughout the season:
http://prohokie.dietzdesignz.com/
I've been using this for a few years. not sure who runs it but they do a good job of keeping it up to date
Anyone know if MV5 is still in jail? Too soon?
Last I had heard he was being arrested but I dont pay too much attention to that stuff.
He's on the Otis Campbell plan. He even calls ahead to find out what Aunt Bea is making for dinner, just in case it's meatloaf - his favorite.
MV5 is just collecting tickets. He's a target for sure.
He also has, shall we say, an...interesting Twitter account.
I almost forgot, Eddie Royal ( one of my favorite hokies ) is still catching TDs with the Chargers
He had a very good spell early in this season where he had like 5 or 6 in the first 5-6 games(correct me if im wrong). Always been one of my favorite players from tech he is a very respectable person.
Kevin Jones: ex-NFL star, still holds a number of RB records at VT. Recently on AD selection committee. Whit was his choice (shh!, he wasn t supposed to tell us that). Also, he is in his final of 3 years earning his Masters in product design at Virginia Tech!

GO HOKIES!!! ~8)
I saw/met KJ within the last month locally (in Blacksburg). He is still jacked and looks like he could suit up any time.
Being jacked was never the problem for KJ, it was his ankles/feet that were the big issues. Lisfranc injury while with Detroit and torn ligaments in his ankle on a cheap shot out of bounds while with Chicago. He still lasted six years in the league which is about three years longer than most.
This is probably the best former player registry, though it hasn't been updated in a few years:
http://beamerball.com/free/formerplayer.htm
Stephen "Jake" Jacobsen is my insurance agent! He's really nice and I've talked to him a few times about his playing days (played 1977-1981). Just an all around good guy.
I wonder what happened to Derran Evans? He's a solid option at running back .
Last I heard, he was on the Indy practice squad.
Spent 2012 on the Tennessee Titans practice squad. Apparently they waived him in April 2013. I find no mention of him for last season. He apparently suffered a quad injury in late November 2012 and was placed on IR. Another Hokie back that falls to the injury bug is what it seems like.
Well that sure is disappointing to hear. Thanks for the info though.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned Jason Worilds tearing it up for the last 8 games this season and probably playing himself into a pretty good contract this offseason.
The afternoon show on 106.7 The Fan was talking about Jason today as a possible option for the Redskins if they don't resign Brian Orakpo.
Do the deadskins have the cap room to pay for him?
They have a ton of cap space but also a ton of players to resign or replace. They get back to the normal salary cap this year.
They just gave Deangelo a four year, 20 million dollar deal, 5 mil guaranteed and a lot of the money is back loaded.
Isn't contracts like that the reason they got penalized?
They got penalized because they spent more money than everyone else which upset the other owners.
They got penalized because they put all their guaranteed money from a handful of contracts in the uncapped year to clear them off the books. Hall and Haynesworth were the most noticeable ones. The problems I had with the penalty was that the NFL approved the change in contracts. If it was against the rules than the NFL, who has final say on all contracts, should have denied the changes. The second big problem I have is that the person that instigated the penalties was the owner of the Giants and miraculously the two teams hit with financial repercussions were Dallas and Washington. The final problem I had with it was that to make it so that "players" weren't making less all of the other teams except two (New Orleans and Oakland) were told if you vote for this penalty your salary cap will go up a prorated share of the total penalty, so each team basically was told you can have $1.8 million in additional cap to work with if you vote to penalize the team. Not to mention that it was supposedly an "uncapped" year but the owners conspired for the most part to keep the status quo. Anyway, water over the bridge.
As for D Hall's deal, Plenty of teams back load older veteran contracts with everyone knowing what is going to happen. That's why they always focus on the guaranteed money in the later years. D Hall knows that all he is likely to make is whats in the first two years of the deal.
I agree. Uncapped meant uncapped. So what if some owner happened to have a gentlemen's agreement. Snyder and Jones took advantage to clear up their books. The league should not have been able to penalize them for what they did.
Serious question: How do people listen to Lavar and Dukes without wanting to rip their ears off?
There are many times I end up turning it off. Although I don't mind Dukes by himself from 6-7. He usually brings up some interesting stuff in that hour. When Lavar goes on one of his rants, I almost always turn it off.
This happened once...
That's always his lead in to a rebuttal of an argument he basically had just supported so he can try to say he was on both sides so whoever ends up being right, he was right too. Bleh.
As a new england patriots fan I've been following worilds alot hoping NE would look his way come free agency and everyone is saying good things about him as a good player so happy to see him doing well.
I believe only three or four of their starting defensive players are under contract for next year right now, and that includes Deangelo.
Also, I believe Shayne Graham is still kicking somewhere.
Which leads me to wonder... we've had some pretty decent kickers/punters come through Blacksburg since I first enrolled... guys like Brandon Pace, Vinnie Burns, Nic Schmitt, and Brent Bowden. I'm surprised they're not playing.
Brent Bowden - drafted by Tampa Bay in 6th round of 2010. Signed a four year deal but was released in September 2010. In 2011, he signed on for a week with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was then released. He then went to the UFL to play for the Virginia Destroyers in Virginia Beach for 2012. Unfortunately the team folded by March 2013 for bankruptcy. No mention of him beyond that.
Nic Schmitt
Went undrafted, had a few tryouts. Doesn't appear to have made a team. Helping with a CrossFit Facility in Roanoke these days
http://www.brickhouseathlete.com/2012/12/07/nic-schmitt/
Vinnie Burns also does not appear to have made any waves at the pro level. He is the Director of Soccer Performance at one of the top prep academies in Florida, IMG Academies. Hopefully the Tech soccer programs are taking advantage of this. IMG is where the MLS Youth Academies go in the spring to compete against each other for the IMG Cup.
Brandon Pace - I cant seem to find anything on him after Virginia Tech.
Great info! What is Jimmy Williams doing nowadays ?
Williams was drafted by the Falcons in 2006, but ended up serving a suspension for marijuana after playing in five games. The suspension came in 2007. In 2009, he was signed by the 49ers but again violated the Substance Abuse Policy, so ended up with a one year suspension.
As of January 6th, 2014, he signed with the Spokane Shock of the Arena Football League.
Not sure what it is with our guys having trouble once they leave Tech. Between injuries and the law, seems quite a few of our players just cant stay on the field once they don't have the structured control of the school environment. Not sure if its reverting to their past or the inability to handle all that opens up to them on the legal side of it. Injuries are hard to know.
I know that right out of college Pace interviewed at CarMax (a family friend interviewed him). I'm not sure if he got the job though.
EDIT: Looks like he is a sale rep now.
Kickers and Punters tend to stick around longer than most other positions and most of the time there is only one of each per roster, so there are less opportunities for kickers and punters to make a roster.
Shayne is with the Saints. I saw him kick a winning field goal this past season - can't remember who against, but the game was a big deal...
He hit one winner then if I remember missed another against seattle.
I watched Shayne Graham kicking for the Saints when they beat the Eagles and then lost to Seattle.
He also just won the 2014 NFL Specialists golf tournament.
He was resigned by the Saints for next season too
I'm gonna do it, because we know what you mean, but it can be misconstrued.
re-signed - signed again
resigned - voluntarily leave a job or other position; or accept that something undesirable cannot be avoided.
If they weren't two VERY different meanings, I wouldn't have said anything.
Here's a link to one of the regular pieces Imwas doing on Hokies in the NFL.
Hokies I the NFL-Wild Card edition
Danny Coale is with the Steelers now.
Well, I guess I still like him.
The day this happened, my other Hokie Steelers fan and I shared some jumping up and down for joy.
Danny Coale is still open somewhere.
Danny Coale is now an investment banker...and still open.
You revisiting this after 7 years cracked me up. Leg.
He is, in fact, always open
Don't forget about Duane Brown, probably one of the best OT in the game right now playing for the Texans. Also, Bryan Randle is QB for the arena league Philadelphia Soul.
Duane Brown is an absolute beast! Agreed- one of the very best to play the position-
Where is Marcus Davis playing ? I remember MArcus Davis making some great catches against Michigan and Pitt . With his physical tools I wonder if he's gonna try to find an NFL team again this year . Hopefully he doesnt give up football.
He's been out of the league since August, 2013 as a free agent. Don't know if he's realized yet that physical tools alone don't cut it in the NFL, you also have to put in the effort.
He was Waived/Injured by the Jets in August. There was no disclosure of the injury that I can find but after clearing waivers, he was placed on injured reserve by the Jets and paid an injury settlement. Depending on the severity of the injury, I would expect he will at least get a shot this season in someone's off season workouts/preseason.
It was a shoulder injury of some kind. I don't remember the details, but it required surgery. The talk around the Jets blogs was that he had a good shot at making the 53 man roster before the injury sidelined him. I'm still rooting for the guy, I'd like to see him make a team.
I'm pretty sure he tweeted out afterwards that he's done with football
when healthy he's a good deep threat receiver. Now that he's more matured, a team could give him a try out in the NFL or CFL.
No mention of James Anderson? He was a weight room monster during his time at Tech and started every game for the Chicago Bears defense this past year.
Hokie wit Da Bearss
It slowly kills my soul knowing a former Hokie is on that damn team...
NFL.com has Worilds at #17 best player in free agency this offseason.

Here's what Gregg Rosenthal has to say about him.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000330156/article/free-agency-prime...
I feel like it's worth noting that Green Bay let James Jones walk, and he's a Raider now. This is a great opportunity for Boykin to entrench himself as the #3 guy behind Nelson and Cobb. Jones had 17 TD's in the last two seasons, so I have to assume a lot of that production is going to pass to Boykin.
I think they let James Jones walk because of how Boykin showed he could deliver on the field. That and the injury issues that always plagued him. Jones will fit right into the Oakland Infirmary.
Mike Vick signed a one deal with the NY Jets.
Eddie Whitley is now a member of the Arizona Cardinal.
Will Montgomery is now with the Denver Broncos.
Man, Whitley's made his way around the NFL. IIRC, he's played for the Cowboys, Eagles, Saints and now the Cardinals in the span of about 3 seasons.
probably too old and obscure for many, but punter Rob Collie 1991-94 ... had a couple tryouts with the NFL, ended up playing a year in Europe .. still resides in VA - only reason I know any of this is because we went to high school/VT together
Probably a good spot for him to land. Little pressure since they have established 1 and 2.
I didnt even know that Josh Morgan was cut by his childhood team. There is no loyalty in the deadskin organization and the NFL except the hokienation.
I am as much a homer as the next Tech guy, but Morgan didn't deliver for the Redskins. I was surprised when he even made the roster last season. He ended the year with 214 yards receiving on 20 catches. They added Desean Jackson, arguably a #1 receiver, along with Andre Roberts, a very underrated #3 in Arizona the last two seasons, sitting behind Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd, both 1000+ yard receivers. Roberts had 471 yards receiving on 43 catches playing behind those two. At least by cutting him early they gave him the opportunity to compete for the #3 spot in Chicago.
This wont help Josh Morgan trying to make the Bears roster:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000344923/article/bears-josh-morgan...
Misdemeanor simple assault with immediate release after booking.
Sounds like a seriously minor incident.
Doesn't take much to be the difference though for a third string receiver. He still is likely to make the roster unless more comes of it.
He's competing for #3 WR, not 3rd string receiver.
Big difference.
Interesting twitter activity from the twitter accounts of Ryan Williams and Marcus Davis recently. Hopefully they're able to stay healthy and play football on Sundays.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Marcus Davis has a public twitter account.
In other words, no one was blocked
Badump, tsss!
And check his cell service... most of his incoming calls get DROPPED!I
Remember Jimmy Kibble? He was the other half of our outstanding kicking unit in the late 1990s (with Shayne Graham).
He had a few tryouts with some NFL Teams, but never made it into a regular season game.
He then went back to coach football at his alma mater, where he had sex with two students and ended up serving jail time.
He is now the founder and CEO of Beyond Sports Network - which I guess is some sort of social networking site for athletes.
Kibble loved to hit people after kicking off. He didn't seem to care if they were inbounds or out of bounds. It was awesome
Apparently he didn't care about the legality of hitting on girls either.
Giggity.
If I remember correctly Orion Martin is now the high school coach at Martinsville High School .
Yes, he is. After spending some time as a GA at Tech, he accepted the Head Coach position at Martinsville.
I wonder what Vincent Fuller is doing nowadays. The guy started the fuller family tradition.
I know he is still doing work with Bryant Johnson on the charitable foundation Beyond 80 Ways.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0CxLzGoOaA
Hopefully making baby Fullers
I saw him walking to the stadium on Saturday with the rest of the Fuller clan.
I had to strongly resist the urge to hug them all.
Danny McGrath is the head coach at Loudoun Valley High
Willie Pile the former FS runs a training center for prospective NFL players called 4th and Inches.
Logan Thomas is drafted by Arizona. Kyle Fuller is drafted and signed with Chicago.
Seeing that Xavier Adibi is coming home and finding out that his Brother is an ATF Agent, lets continue this Thread whether the Almuni is playing or Not.
1. Dwight and Mike Vick - I'm seeing that Youtube Podcast
2. Dyrell Roberts: Coaching WR at Western Illinois University
3. John Mollerup - I ran across him on Social Media, Kick off man for us in 1999- 2000, Project Manager and Personal trainer
4. Shyrone Stith - Teacher
5. Justin Harper - WR Coach, Towson
Keep it going please...every time I watch the Vick Podcast, Tears come to my eyes remembering my school years for 1995 to 2000 (yes Five year plan)
We had the exact same 5 year plan, 95-00 myself
Freshman year we start 0-2 then run the table and beat Texas in the Sugar Bowl, and then 5th year we go to the NC game. Was a great time to be a Hokie.
Nice
It's not a five year plan, you just took a redshirt year.
Also, the term "five year plan" always makes me think of Big Daddy. So GIF.
I was actually in school 4 years , took 2 semesters off to work full time to help pay for school- as they say the numbers always work out
6. Dustin Pickle - Realtor, Raleigh NC

Dang. He used to be a Salem cop. Busted me late one Saturday night speeding....I got his autograph on my ticket.
If I were him, I'd only patrol roads where the speed limit is 35
My friends and I made up a "Pickle for Heisman" sign and they brought to Lane North in '07 - the week after Pickle got some run in the Miami beatdown. Sadly, the sign didn't spur any carries for him against the Wahoozits.
He used to date Lauren Barnette at one point, former Hokie, runner up for Miss Teen USA and briefcase model on Deal or No Deal. She lived below me in Phase II. Worth the google....
She also won Miss Virginia and was in the top 10 in the Miss USA 2007 pageant.
Insert creepy Brent Musburger commentary...
He still cleaned up very, very well in the marriage department. (Pickle, if you ever see this, I mean that in the most...idk, *fist bump* way imaginable. Good for you dude.)
I have no doubt
I'd hate to be a bad guy with Nathaniel Adibi after me.
Just don't call him Nate, and you'll be alright.
Aaron Rouse is on the city council for Virginia Beach
My gf and I have met Aaron a few times around the Virginia Beach area. He's very approachable and enthusiastic to hold a conversation. We've even seen him running with one of the running clubs in the area
when we have junior days, and cookouts, or whatever recruiting events the new staff might hold...they should try to get rouse on campus to address them as a group. same with dwight vick.
Sorting through the list of new hires at work this week and it turns out that Oscar Bradburn got hired to our marketing department! Lots of Hokies in the office so he is in good company.

Cool story on Nick Acree. He is now a police officer.
