The Music Bowl apparently marks the end of the Vad Lee era at Georgia Tech. Multiple sources informed Jacketsonline Thursday evening that Lee plans to leave the Yellow Jacket program and will transfer elsewhere for his final two seasons of eligibility.
Paul Johnson's seat has to be getting warm.

That's very interesting. I'm curious when PJ is gone how long GT will be irrelevant.
And we think that we are heading in the wrong direction? GT may be on the same level as UVA in a few years if this keeps up.
Please let it be so!
Hell yeah!
Whole lotta this going on...
He gone. http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/vad-lee-to-transfer/ncbQH/
Once again, lolz from Andy Bitter.
But seriously. What in the hell did he think he was taking over at GT?
Also it took him 3 years to figure that out??
To be fair...
But honestly, Paul Johnson change the offense? He should have doubted it.
This made me giggle.
Im sure its happenef but anyone recall when a clear cut starterof a big conf prgrams walks to another school?
UVA UVA UVA UVA
2 much to hope for?
Very recent past--Russell Wilson from N.C. State to Wisconsin.
Russell Wilson pulled the loophole transfer: the NCAA allows you to transfer to a different school and play immediately if you find a graduate program that your current school does not have.
True, but he chose to transfer because he didn't like how things were shaping up at NC State
Wasn't baseball a big part of it? TOB was preparing for life after Russell Wilson before Russell Wilson left.
From what I remember:
Wilson left after his Junior year to play Professional Baseball. I think for all intents and purposes after that season he was basically done with NC State. TOB spent the entire spring with a different QB and then Wilson decided to come back and try and play his final year and since the entire team had prepped with the new QB Wilson was told he'd have to jump in the QB competition so he transferred to Wisconsin.
He had played minor league ball the last summer too. TOB didn't like it and thought he should spend the spring working with the team, and told him if he played baseball again he wasn't going to be the starter. We all know what has happened since
I actually watched Wilson play minor league in person. He played for the Asheville Tourists (the farm team for the Rockies I believe) as a short stop and I took in a couple of his games.
Didn't ND's starting QB transfer mid-way into September in the last of the Charlie Weis years? It could also have been in the first year that Kelly was the head coach. That was good for a few LULz at the time. I think he could see the writing on the wall after he was benched for the new kid.
The important thing is that the misery of ND fans is delicious.
Oh boy. Well. We can say we're gonna win at least 2 games next year.

GT fans prior to the season:
"Wait till Lee starts! Then you'll see a PJ offense with a qb who can REALLY throw!"
GT fans after the season:
"We still miss Josh Nesbit"
Sounds a like fair weather Virginia tech fans towards LT3.
Any negative light on CPJ is a good thing. As much as I hate the bees and wish for their eternal mediocrity I REALLY hate CPJ. Hope GT gets rid of him.
I wish for their eternal mediocrity as well, hence I am all for CPJ's continued employment.
I get you, but I would prefer he goes and we save some ACC OL knees for their future football careers. Get rid of him as quickly as possible.
It is my understanding that the only reason CPJ is still around is that for a "smart" school they did a really stupid thing and fulling guaranteed CPJ's contract. I think if they can him they still owe him 7.5 million, and they just don't have the money.
lol
Why is he unhappy? They gave him everything he wanted. He ran the entire show. Not GT's fault he drove them nowhere.
Because he's PJ. He's also unhappy that the sun rose, and that his farts don't, in fact, smell like roses.
It's the rose's fault.
If the rose could only learn the proper technique for a barely legal chop block, it'd get back in PJ's graces.
He's unhappy mainly because "the Hill" imposes stringent restrictions on student athletes that are above and beyond the NCAA's academic standards. For instance, they make no exceptions for student athletes to allow them to wave the Calculus requirement. Thus, they are at a recruiting disadvantage. And with Paul Johnson's system, they basically can't recruit anyone without straight up lying to them now (see Vader Lee).
There are quite a few schools that have equal or higher academic standards/reputations than Georgia Tech and can still recruit decent teams.
Eventually CPJ will have to stop drinking his own Kool-Aid long enough to realize that what worked at Georgia Southern doesn't last at higher levels.
Especially when Bud Foster has your nuts in a little box.
Lol, he wants to be gone but his contract is such that they can't afford to buy him out. He needs to man up and just leave, he knows the alumni want him gone.
With Vad Lee's no arm talent what kind of offense does he want to play in though? Oh, I get it. It's too hard in D1, I'll just go to D2 or D3 and dominate. Hello GA Southern!
Funny thing is, if he went to Ga Southern, he'd probably have a better shot at beating an SEC team.
Somewhere in Florida,Will Muschamp just crapped his slacks at the prospect of GA Southern getting D1 talent.
Georgia Southern is already D1 (FCS).
ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNND... they're moving up to the Sun Belt next season.
Vad Lee at GT was a losing battle, that much was clear throughout this season. As he said, he didn't really fit with the triple option that they ran. It would be too bad for him if CPJ left right after he decided to transfer, as I think he could be a pretty good QB in another system. With his improved running ability, he could be a dangerous dual threat guy, but the the decision making he displayed in the triple option wasn't great. He was clearly not comfortable in that offense.
CPJ can have success with this offense, but I think at this point his success in a major conference has run its course. Without a truly talented QB who fits that system and loves it, it won't go much further than this. There is no Demariyus Thomas on the roster to catch the 46 yard bombs they throw once a quarter, and there is no QB on the roster that can make the right decisions consistently (on top of taking the beating that they'll be taking by running so often).
It's too bad for Godhigh, as that guy is a beast. He's a great RB. Maybe they should wildcat the hell outta the triple option with him taking snaps.
To be honest, I never quite understood why CPJ tried to get a high profile recruit to run his offense. His major problem is that recruits at that level will want to be in pro or spread programs (mostly). He should have just found a Navy-level (not knocking them) recruit and had him run it. That type of player that's maybe 2 to 3 star range would jump at the chance to play at GT in ACC and would have the right will and possibly experience to run the triple option. Everyone knows he doesn't need to be a good passer. Just smart and mobile. Lot's of QB's that are undersized for "normal" programs that fit that bill and would do great in his system.
Seems like a no-brainer to me. I hate Paul Johnson, but just saying.
Actually come to think of it. The Hokies have the perfect example of the type of recruit CPJ should have running his system. Sam Rogers. Smart, Dedicated, Under-Sized and Over-Looked. He would run the shit out of that offense. He may not be a 1000 yard rusher but he would get enough yards to be dangerous and catapult the other 2 options into 1000 yard territory.
Hell you would hardly ever need to waste offers on QB's then. Just take maybe 1 every now and then and offer preferred walk-ons to a bunch that are gunning for a chance and see what comes from practices. Just offer a shit load of RB's and OL.
Hate the guy, but seems like the way to go to me.
I think you're onto something. CPJ could do better with a FB/HB/TE-like QB running this offense. Belldozer would put up a million yards in this offense. Pretty much go find another Nesbitt.
Keenan Reynolds at GT? That'd be freaking deadly...
Do you guys remember that time when Kyle Fuller embarrassed the hell out of Vad Lee? That was awesome.
It's something I think about whenever I'm having a bad day - at least I'm not getting absolutely wrecked by Kyle Fuller.
He's going to to JMU.
Hes grateful for his 3 years at Tech? I think he only played once at Tech and we beat him in OT
Oh you....
Seriously though, good for him. He'll probably tear it up at the FCS level under a system better suited for his abilities.
It just doesn't get old.
