These tweets are presented at face value. Powell is a 3-star DT from Midlothian, Virginia verbally committed to UNC at the moment. To my knowledge he doesn't hold a Virginia Tech offer.

Most likely reason behind these tweets is he made a few friends while being recruited, and figures he could meet up with them. I doubt there's any chance of him flipping at the last minute.

It is worth noting that Virginia Tech is on his "interest list" on 247, and it lists Shane was his recruiter.

Oh, I see Joe removed the phone number he had posted, probably a good idea. I guess the kid probably either had someone see it and tell him it wasn't a good idea, or he got some unwanted attention from having his number out there in public, since he has since deleted the tweet.
It is interesting he included Shane in his "track meet" tweet...
(could see him poking some fun at HS buddies, but at a college coach?)
Would it be a violation or something for Shane to give him a facility tour without it being his official visit?
Recruits can do unofficial visits as often as they want, the school just doesn't foot the bill for it.
