Well deserved. I will discuss it as the spring progresses, but you can point to the moment where the Hokies couldn't align Kendall on the slot, Kyle to the boundary, and Brandon to the field as the moment where the Hokie defense lost it's way this season. When Bonner had to move to the slot, Foster was forced to play Jarrett as a normal deep safety along with Clark and Frye, both of whom were lost most of the time. Without Jarrett as a mobile playmaker in the box, the Hokies lost the extra man who they counted on to make plays against mobile quarterbacks. The effect was telling. Development of a player like a Chris Hill who can play the boundary and let Kendall move back on the slot will be a major issue to watch in the spring.

If you had to guess is there a player that is close to being able to make said leap?

This is why we really need Cequan Jefferson

Agreed. And maybe we do already have the guy. Its difficult to really tell when a guy is thrust into a spot because of an injury. At that point all kinds of things are being tweaked to try and minimize the damage and its so easy for things to fall apart. Just have to wait and trust that Torrian can take another guy to that next level, which given history I have a lot of faith in.

Cris Hill (Highland Springs HS) graduated. Did you mean Chris Caver?

No I think he means we need to develop another player LIKE Cris Hill...

In twelve years that's the first defensive player we've had on one of those teams.

Congrats to Mr. Fuller - I hope he stays in Blacksburg 3 more years!
