If you actually think about it, this could be the way colleges get around Title IX going forward. Video Gaming as a scholarship sport. A relatively cheap sport to fund that is co-ed? I can really see major universities jumping at this potential run around in the future.

The ESA's "Essential Facts About the Computer and Videogame Industry" study for 2013 has found that the gamer audience in the U.S. is almost evenly divided between men and women - 45 percent female, 55 percent male - which in itself won't be very surprising to anyone who actually pays attention to this business.
Olivia Munn admitted in an interview that she doesn't really play video games. I guess it doesn't really prevent her from being a good video game show host though.

Felicia Day would be my first choice for an example of a woman who is a true gamer, she did create a successful internet series about gaming, as well as several entertaining spin off videos to promote the series:

This might also create problems with athletes accepting money. I doubt any of the top players will want to play as an Amateur when they could go to an MLG or another pro event and actually make money for winning. i.e. coL gaming won $400,000 at Call of Duty Championships in march. http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/competitions/68

The biggest shame is that because of the O'Bannon case, there will be no EA eSports, and we'll never have the opportunity to play video games as our favorite college video gamers.

Amazingly I'm more shocked to learn that there is a Robert Morris University in Illinois (not the Pittsburgh one) than I am about the gaming scholarships.

The NCAA will have no choice but to put strict limits of Cheetos and Mountain Dew. Unfortunately, this combination will now have to be classified as a "meal," legitimizing junk food among non-athlete teenagers and leading to the ultimate collapse of meal time throughout society.

E-sports are huge. Dota 2's international championship has a prize pool that will probably reach over 10 Million dollars. That's more than the Masters. You never know what will happen.

Won't this create more Title IX issues?
Not if it's the first co-ed collegiate sport

Better option is cheerleading. Video gaming would be overwhelmingly male.

Granted, you would then need to define "gamer"... but still, there are more girls playing games than many would think.
Here's one: G4 Network's Attack of the Show host Olivia Munn!

Couldn't quite get the ones with multiple snausages in her mouth.

Yeah. But Morgan Webb! She really is a true gamer.
Aw c'mon...who says seeing how many snausages Olivia Munn can fit in her chomper isn't a true aspect of gaming?
I am not even going to attempt to find a gif for this. I don't need HR on my ass that badly.
Lmao! There is one but it won't let it post on here.

Felicia Day is probably my ideal woman. She's extremely smart, extremely talented, and beautiful and she plays video games.
Felicia Day...hmm. That kinda sounds like a porno name. Felicia...Felicity...Felatio?

oops i read a little to fast. Thanks Gang..
??? Do football players get degrees in football?
This is a sport, not a degree. They'll do the same thing any of our other athletes do after they graduate, if they don't turn pro.
I can see it now...the 2018 Video Gaming Draft!
The biggest shame is that because of the O'Bannon case, there will be no EA eSports, and we'll never have the opportunity to play video games as our favorite college video gamers.
yo dawg, I heard you like gaming. so here's a game that you play as a gamer who's gaming the game while you game!
Will this game work on my Atari 2600?
Amazingly I'm more shocked to learn that there is a Robert Morris University in Illinois (not the Pittsburgh one) than I am about the gaming scholarships.
History will show that at this time there began a confusing trend of obesity among scholarship athletes

Best South Park episode ever.
Very Cheetos. Such Mountain Dew. I'll just leave this here...
I WANT TO DOOOOO THEM!!!
Maybe the NCAA will finally be able to legitimately justify banning marijuana as a performance enhancing drug.

I am a 4 Star FIFA 2014 player per rivals. I should be a 5 star, but haven't received my offer yet from powerhouse Robert Morris (Illinois)
