Devin Wilson named to All-ACC Freshman team.

One of the lone bright spots of this season. Congrats Devin! Very well deserved. Here is the link.

ACC All Freshmen team running a small lineup out onto the floor with three guards and two forwards. Congrats to Devin. He really was one of the only things worth watching. His development was absolutely noticeable from the first game to the last in his confidence to take the ball into the lane and improved free throw shooting. He averaged about 35 minutes a game. He and Eddie were the only two over 30 MPG this year. Still needs to work on protecting the ball and better shot selection but I am looking forward to him next year.

When I first saw this, my first reaction was WTF...

but the more I thought about it, from where he started in the beginning of the season to where he is now, Devin has certainly improved vastly. Is he ACC freshman all american? I don't know, but regardless Congrats to Mr. Wilson.

He did set a bunch of tech freshman records, plus the tech record for assists in a season (at least according to hokie sports). 4.8 assists per game is pretty good for college, also his 5.5ish ppg is largely due to his lack of scoring early in the year. In person, he was by far my favorite player to watch, him and Joey started to have a good chemistry with the pick and roll too. I wouldn't be surprised if by the time its all said and done, he will leave tech as one of its best players of the past decade or so. Definitely better than Eric green was probably even when he was a sophomore.

Wilson averaged 9.2 PPG this season. The other thing to take into account on his selection is the limited number of freshmen that play significant roles on their teams because most ACC teams have depth which prevents too many freshmen from seeing the floor for 30 minutes or more a game. He gets a big boost due to Tech's lack of depth.

Woops, the 5.5 must be for Joey I mixed up, thought that sounded low

If we can get someone else to handle the ball other than just him, I think he'll develop to be even better running the point. Lots of pressure was on him this season as the primary ballhandler.

Mueller will be eligible next year so that helps.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Congrats to him. He did work hard and get better.
I still don't understand some of his continued dribble and drive decisions, but with our offense doing a lot of Iso for him, what choice did he really have...
