Figured it was worth noting the VT community lost a great professor, Dr. Sam Riley in the Comm department.
If you never had Professor Riley, someone who did have him will speak very highly of the man. Amazing energy and compassion, and a lot of love for Virginia Tech and the Blacksburg community.
The Roanoke Times put together a nice obit: Dr. Riley.
RIP Sam.

I had him this semester for Media Institutions, and although he taught WAAAY old fashioned, I still really enjoyed just listening to what he had to say. He had so many stories and jokes and they were just so fun to listen to. We had a new teacher come in about three weeks ago when he first became sick and I was so bummed. Probably one of my favorite professors I've had in my few years at school.
My all-time favorite memory of him will be when he said "Why does Miley Cyrus enjoy to be a slut goddess so much." Slut goddess instantly became one of my favorite terms.
